CFDA Awards 2011

What an honor to host CFDA for EXTRA!. I wore a vintage Azzedine Alaia with Azzedine Alaia flats and got to interview Francisco Costa, Kerry Washington, a very pregnant Jessica Alba, Zac Posen, Michael Kors, Miranda Kerr ( who loves to climb trees)and even saw Lady Gaga, Marc Jacobs, and Kanye West (who wore the coolest crystal encrusted shoes.)

Love ya EXTRA CFDA!

Svedka

Party like its 2033. Svedka knows a good party, and Abe and Arthurs had an amazing birthday for owners Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm, who happen to be NYC most eligible bachelors. Roxy Olin, Whitney Port, Extra’s AJ, and Matthew Settle.  Gossip Girl’s hot dad, and I chatted up what makes an adult playground. I like kids and family and he loves life. Thanks Svedka for the food, friends, and fun.

A Full Weekend Of Celebrations!

Happy Birthday to me! Yes I am 42 years old. I honestly can’t believe how much time has flown by. I had such a great birthday weekend. Cleo Wade who works with Stacy Bendet from Alice + Olivia hooked me up with an amazing dress, kimono, and pearls!  I shared a yummy dinner at Beba in Soho, then drinks at Kenmare, and met more friends at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel. Courtney Love had been there the night before… Ahh? She’s up there, and I am way down here!

Friday morning, I filmed a segment for EXTRA on my New York apartment. For me color reflects my personality, I love my daughter’s art as much as the professional art, and I love collecting: books, bags, murano glass, and shoes. I decorate with what I love. And, I like buying vintage and making it new. I had lunch with my daughter and my best friend at Delicatessen; where they offered me a delicious tuna tartare, something I would now recommend everyone try.

I left for Miami to stay at the Gansevoort and host a party at SET. We ate at Nobu, Phillipe, I went for a beach run, and enjoyed the ocean air. It was relaxing and I had some pure clean fun. The Delano has the best drinks and music. We danced like crazy there, and the G has fun artwork all over the club. SET was completely techno crazed and the room was SOLD OUT.

Thank you Miami for all the fun!

“Extra” at The Westminster Dog Show

Fashion Week Blog Part II

Tuesday  February 15, 2010
Achoooo. Yes, it is winter in New York. I have a cold, but I will not miss my segment with Jill Zarin for EXTRA where we cover the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. At Madison Square Garden, Jill and I ran around and met a lot of new furry friends, from poodles to the IAMS bulldogs, we met them all. There were a few things that surprised me. First, the dogs are bathed with Pantene shampoo and conditioner just like I use. Secondly, it takes some of the groomers/handlers two hours to get a dog ready for their competition. And, I even met one handler who gets paid 2-3K a month to take some dogs to different shows around the country. The best advice of the day to train your dog is to learn how to say,”no.”
Oops it 1130, and I had to be at the Jill Stuart fashion show at the New York Public library. I ran into the Courtyard Marriott to change quickly into my denim grommet mini dress and raced back stage to the show. As I walked up the stairs, I quickly noticed all the other guests were seated. I sat next to my dear friend and photographer, Mr Nigel Barker from America’s Next Top Model, and ran across the runway to say hi to my friend Roxy Orlin who stars in MTV’s “the City”, and then the show started. Hot leather thigh high boots, velvet mini dresses, and sexy cargo pants. This season proves to love dark green, black, vintage, and menswear.

After a quick bite, I raced home to change into a vintage Geminola velvet dress, cowboy boots, and wear my new Bottega Veneta tye dye leather bag. Tomas Maier wins in my book for the accessory of the season award. And, designer Devi Kroell collection was brilliant. Her gold gladiator thigh high boots were so hot that the editors were speechless, even my god friend Nylon magazine editor, Dani Stahl (who has a killer jewelry line). I went back stage to say hi to Devi Kroell who juggles fashion, horse riding, and being a mother so effortlessly.
In lieu of another fashion party, I went to see Wolfman. the cinematography was amazing and the menswear costumes should inspire all menswear designers for fall10. Chic oversized white shirts with black trousers and black vests. The look was English countryside tough guy who during the full moon is a wolf.

Later at home, I indulged in a delicious Valentine’s meal. Crab legs swimming in Coleman’s mustard and butter sauce, and a green salad with creamy vinaigrette salad dressing. Did I mention the olives stuffed with provolone cheese as my appetizer? I sat on the counter and relished in every gastronomic moment with my hair in a low side pony wearing an old Ralph Lauren cashmere cable sweater and sweatpants that say,”montauk” on the bum.
