On the eve of Fashion Week, Target blows NYC away with one of the most influential Italian families, the Missoni’s. Angela designs, Margarita is the face, and the entire family comes out to support, and thats their family, not just the fashion family. For those who think knits are not hot, then you have never travelled. One thing you learn from traveling in Europe is culture and style. And the Missoni’s have a lot of style. Patterns and knits are their forte. And, they taken what they know and love and applied it to clothing as well as home goods, even vases. Welcome to America, Missoni, we are so proud to have you here.

Labor Day “Give Day”

Happy Saturday, I took the girls to support my great friend Diana Di Menna who took a lemonade stand to a new level. This year, we sold cookies, lemonade, and designed t-shirts. It was a fun way to encourage my girls to help those who need help. The Robin Hood Foundation helps target poverty in NYC. I’ll cut tees and sell lemonade all day and night to support the children in NYC.

Thank you Nacho Figueras for being my supermodelpoloplayergiveman!

Happy Saturday. Love hard, give  harder!

Am New York : Kelly Killoren Bensimon Causes A Chic ‘Racquet’ At The Open

posted by KKB Team on 2011.09.02, under HOME

Hurricane Irene came and went, and so did my own hurricane of traveling — from Sag Harbor with two kids and three dogs, to Manhattan for a night, to Canyon Ranch in Lenox,Mass., and finally back to NYC this week.

That’s when I got a call: Hairstylist Julien Farel was once again having a salon at the U.S. Open. I definitely wanted to see Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer play tennis, but I also needed to meet the man who coifs their great-looking hair.

On the day I visited the Open, a car pulled up in front of my SoHo building to take me to Queens. Julien Farel himself — chicly dressed in a U.S. Open Polo shirt and equestrian-style pants — accompanied me on the ride. We chatted about the summer, his upcoming project (a secret wedding!) and, ofcourse, hair.

Farel, who has two salons in Manhattan, even gave me some tips for my dry hair, which oftengets blown out six times a week.

Another cool revelation: Farel said that even athletes are grooming- and beauty obsessed. I saw that for myself at the Open — everyone looked so good, on and off the court. Where was all the sweat, grime and grunting? I was impressed by all the neat short nails, cool haircuts and U.S. Open paraphernalia.

When I sat next to a player while getting my nails done at Farel’s salon, she had just finished working out in the gym, and she looked as though she had stepped right out of a Nike ad.

I, meanwhile, wore gold Prada shorts, J.Crew sandals,an easy top, a woven bag — which supports Wayuu Taya Charity — and Ray Ban sunglasses.

A few tips for hot Open attire: Sport a Lacoste or Polo shirt and a fun mini or hot shorts. Wear flats— it’s a sports match. Stay far away from fall colors and black — it’s too hot and you’ll fry like piece of bacon. Sport a cute Open baseball hat — guys like girls in baseball caps.

Keep your shoulders exposed but slather on the sunscreen. Channel a “hot athlete” — not a “fall fashion victim.”

Ring-a-Ding!

posted by KKB Team on 2011.09.02, under HOME

Ringing the Nasdaq opening bell to celebrate the September cover of Shape Magazine was major. To grace the cover at 43 was an honor and then to promote it at Nasdaq, the lover and admirer of the pioneer and entrepreneur, was EPIC.

I’ve always beat to my own drummer and done things the untraditional way, and  I have taken many leaps of faith, never looked back, always stayed true to myself, and maintained integrity. Making mistakes is what life is all about, and I’ve made a lot. One thing that is constant is that Ive always remained respectful to myself, others, and to my body. Have fun with what life brings you, and treat your body like a Ferrari.

Thank your David and Jennifer for having me open the market on Sept 1,2011.

I will never forget this day as long as I live!

Closing Bell At NASDAQ

What a cool experience to close market at NASDAQ with the finalist of American Idol. My kids said it best that the singers are so real that it made living your dream an approachable idea. Thank you NASDAQ and American Idol for inspiring our kids to want to do well.

Thank you so much to Stacy Bendet who came all the way from NYC and left her little girls to host a jewelry trunk show for me, at her Southampton store . My kids are crazy about Alice + Olivia shoes. I bought many dresses for the events I’m hosting, the rest of the summer in the Hamptons. Did you see the hot dress I was wearing???? And, all my friends had a blast eating snow cones and looking at all of Alice + Olivia’s fall must haves. Many people comment on The Real Housewives of New York , on me for “showing up” for a party. Thats exactly what it is. Friends show up. I don’t expect you to be the first to come and last to arrive, but when friends make efforts to show up, I immediately recognize them as a quality person. Thanks Stacy for hosting me, and for letting my girls play in your amazing shoe closet at your store, and for being a great friend.

It doesn’t go unnoticed!

Micah Jesse Interview – KKB’s Top Fall Fashion Trends

When she’s not getting dragged into cat fights with her cast mates on “The Real Housewives of NYCKelly Killoren Bensimon is shopping, searching and finding the most “fab finds” from the Hamptons to Hollywood, so we asked our cele BFF to share with y’all some of her most favorite fall fashion trends — so that you can get ready for the next season in true fashion!

Alright, Kelly, tell us what’s hot this Fall…

Sky High Heels — In Red: I love Manolo Blahnik, and not because of the reason you think. My dad, when I was 20 years old, bought me my first pair from Neiman Marcus in Palm Springs, Ca. For me, Manolo Blahnik is a rite of passage. I felt like a woman.

Lace: I love lace either vintage or new. Opening Ceremony took my kind of spin on lace and created a see through lace dress. Pair it with a black slip and you are alluring and sweet. Aww.

Purple is the New Neutral: Linea Pelle’s over the shoulder messenger bag sold at Henri Bendels screams Moroccan chic, the origin of hippie chic: rich, effortless, well travelled.

Tight Capris: JCREW is making me fashion crazy with tight capris. With a tee shirt, a tight turtleneck, a lace blouse, or a white button down, JCREW’s ‘Minnie’ capris don’t channel anything but hot, chic, and sexy. Duh!

Color is the New Color. Dolce and Gabbana’s hot pink satin dress leaves nothing to the imagination. Its boxy in shape, and accentuates every movement you make. Fluid, sexy, and eye catching. Make em wonder…

Black Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend: Carlos Souza’s jewelry collection that fuses color, travel, and expensive hard to find beads. Wear black diamonds with a tomas maier bikini, or pair a long beaded strand a la 20s with a drop waist dress.

Rock it Out. Ugg’s new knee high suede clogs take the rocker and mellow her out. She’s not head banging, she’s chair dancing and not missing a beat.

Thanks, KKB! Great tips!

Also, be sure to pick up the latest issue of Shape Magazine (featuring covergirl Kelly) where she compares her body to a Ferrari (we couldn’t agree more!) and follow her on Twitter @KellyBensimon!
