My Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

I love long weekends for it allows me more time with my family and friends. This weeking while I spending time in my house in East Hampton. I enjoyed my typical weekend. I started the weekend with Barry’s Bootcamp which worked muscles I didnt even know I had.

Then I spent the day at Wiborg beach and watched my girls surf in the refreshing water. We headed into East Hampton and Rugby was offering free icecream to everyone who came by. That Ralph Lauren family is a class act. I had an amazing eveing with my friends at my house and celebrated my new book I Can Make You Hot with Hypnotiq and Polar delicious sparkling waters: Im in love
with Pina Colada and Mojito.

I then took my friends to Surf Lodge, Rushmeyers, and Liars for a few beers and a lot of laughs. Sunday I took my daughter paddleboarding on Sag Pond. In the 1800 there were gondulas floating around that were shipped in from Venice Italy, and today they have paddle boarders like me and my daughter. And the beach is crawling with crabs which were so fun to try to catch.
We then went to Cyrils and feasted on calamari and fun drinks.

On our way home a run down Further Lane always relaxes me, so we went for a gorgeous jog as the fog rolled in and the red sunset started to set. The girls wanted the Blue Parrot and icecream at Scoop du Jour and that was our evening.

Thank you Hamptons for another beautiful series of amazing memories. While we are remembering those who sacrified their lives in service for fellow Americans, we also need to make as many memories that we can cherish as possible. Make good decisions so you can nuture amazing families and bonds.

Happy Summer, Love

Summer DIY

Take your summer vacation house and give it some modern culture. With a blank canvas paint it either red or blue, and hang them together to have your own art installation of #yves klein. Its easy, festive, and makes any room modern and scream ‘sophisticated.’

Kelly Bensimon Takes Inspiration From Schiaparelli & Prada

With Memorial Day approaching, what to wear this summer is on everyone’s mind. My inspiration comes from the new exhibit from the Met’s Costume Institute: “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations,” about Italian design icons Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada.

I was in love with the show and its styles – from mixing masculine and feminine, to layering, to unusual textures – and it made me think about what everyone needs this summer to be chic. A la Prada, a long or tea length skirt is a must-buy. By showing off less skin, let those boys’ imaginations go wild at the beach or at the bar. Channel Schiaparelli by choosing a shrunken sweater – I love Ralph Lauren’s.

Schiaparelli also loved the charm of a pretty woman in a dress, but gave the look an edge. I say, this summer choose a gorgeous floral dress, but wear it with Keds or ballet flats instead of a heel. And, last but not least, when in doubt, play with patterns like Prada, who’s known for mixing prints.

Hamptons – Beauty Blackbook: Kelly Killoren Bensimon

As a busy mother of two daughters with accolades like model, equestrian, and author to her name, the always-beautiful Kelly Killoren Bensimon surely has a ton of secrets for looking good. Here, Kelly shares her favorite places to get gorgeous around her summer retreat in East Hampton. Read on and snag more advice on staying beautiful by eating right with her new book, I Can Make You Hot (St. Martins Press, $24.99 hardcover, $11.99 ebook).

My favorite place to relax is Naturopathica (Red Horse Plz., 74 Montauk Hwy., East Hampton, 329-2525) in East Hampton—the massages there are amazing and take you out of the Hamptons and into pure euphoria. I also love their lavender products and their rose geranium facial spray, which is incredibly refreshing. I’ve had facials there that don’t leave you bruised or red and splotchy, but rather luminous and glowing.

When my rock star hairstylist Bradley Irion isn’t doing my color, I go to M Salon (64 Park Pl., East Hampton, 324-3036) per his orders where they color my roots only (I don’t let them take my highlights away, roots only!). I also usually beg for a quick manicure so my hair looks beachy, but my nails look clean and chic. There’s nothing worse than a woman with mangled nails, or ones that are not clean and short.

And on my way home, I always make a pit stop at White’s Pharmacy (81 Main St., East Hampton, 324-0082) where I pick up my Terax conditioner, Tweezerman to keep my brows from having a mind of their own, and Folavril perfume by Annick Goutal.

White HOT!

So, you are probably wondering why the author of the Bikini Book is wearing a one piece. I was searching on google for some hot summer inspiration and I came across some insane pictures of Raquel Welsh in a white one shoulder one piece, and I decided to show off my assets and not my ?!!??!! Like most reality stars do.

And it just so happened my friend and owner of Maui based swimsuit company Letarte  makes a sick version of the RW white one piece.
Summer is approaching fast, so instead of trying to get thin, get Hot by eating well, living well, and wear a one piece.

Hair Hottie

How do you get the smokin hot hair of supermodels who walk runways, check out some hot tips from super stylist, Bradley Irion. He happens to be my best friend, and has made my hair a sensation on RHONY. Noted other heads of hair include Petra Nemcova, Kirstie Alley, Lara Spencer, Tinsley Mortimer, Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Hurley, Giuliana Rancic, and many other super stars and a bevy of super models.

For an inside secret, he adds great length extentions that he actually has colored to match my own sunkissed waves for added hair during the SHAPE Sept 2011 cover and the Reunion shows of RHONY. And he’s even trimmed my dogs Fluffy’s white mane when it looked more like cat fur instead of dog fur.

His talent isn’t limited and his heart is bigger than the state of Texas. He came with me last year to Costa Rica and helped me paint a fence for a school, and braided all of the girls hair, just because. If you learn one thing from him, he’ll tell you: beauty comes from within.

Love you BradBrad!
