Dressing For Success

Sitting and filming for the rhnyc is scarey enough, but now I have to wonder what am I going to wear. Celeb stylist and Alice and Olivia have a great idea of how to make me feel relaxed in one of this spring’s biggest trends: menswear inspired look. Wish me luck. No armor required, just fun.

Tattoos For All

The word tattoo derives from the Tahitian word ‘tatau’ which means ‘to mark something’. And the history of tattoo began over 5000 years ago and is as diverse as the people who wear them. Some tattoos are meant to mark, symbolize, protect, or even preserve the body ( as some anthropologists have researched). My daughters are at that age of discovery and I decided to join them in their exploration rather than judge. We went to Kate Paperie and found the Painless Tattoo Parlor’s removable tattoos. They were 10 dollars but worth more than that in memories.

“Kellade” Making Lemons Into Lemonade

posted by KKB Team on 2010.05.17, under HOME

Memorial Day drinks fun for the entire family. Can you make lemons into lemonade? Everyone loves lemonade, especially children. Why not channel your inner child and take the lemonade to another level. All you need are: lemons, oranges, vanilla sugar, Patron tequila, Corona beer, Nantucket  Nectars ( or any lemonade), and ice. Mix to your desired octane, and coat the rim of the glass with sugar. I always love to use odd glasses for drinks. Use a wine glass for beer, or serve kids a lemonade in a champagne flute.

Happy Summer!

jeans

I am obsessesd with jeans. Short, cropped, boyfriend, skinny, traditional levi’s. I love ‘em all!  Now my good friend (creative director at Barney’s New York) Simon Doonan’s partner in life, Jonathan Adler has collaborated with 7 For All Mankind Celebrate the Launch of Jonathan Adler For 7 FOR ALL MANKIND. Jonathan’s old guard sensibility mixed with contemporary playfulness are the roots of his home collection. Last night, designer, Jonathan got off the couch and onto the streets with 60s inspired white cords. I have always worn white jeans all year around, but cords struck a cord in me.(haha) Can I channel Jackie O, in white cords and ballet flats? oh yeahhhhh!

Today at 10 am I met my friend Danny Seo and three hot FORD male models at the corner of Broadway and Houston in front of the Hollister store to find a cool lucite van equipped with a washer and dryer, METHOD cleaning products, and REAL green grass on the floor.  Wait, what??? This is New York City. Huh? What does Method cleaning products, a lucite van , and GOODWILL Industries have to do with each other? METHOD teamed up with GOODWILL to encourage New Yorkers to spring clean and weed out their unwanted clothes in their closets. METHOD then is ’smartly” cleaning their new or gently worn clothes for resale. From May 13th-15th there will be a Mobile laundry room and a donation truck all around New York.

Thursday, May 13th10 AM – 6 PMSoho-Broadway between Houston + Prince

Friday, May 14th10 AM – 6 PMUnion Square

Saturday, May 15th11 AM – 7 PMHerald Square-35th St. between 6th + Broadway

You can even spontaneously donate an item of clothing off their bodies, and the first 200 people who donate each day will receive a free 25-load bottle of Method laundry detergent.

Thank you Danny Seo for your amazing initiative, METHOD products for thinking out of the box, and for GOODWLL for all of your philanthropic good works. Lets change America’s landscape from what can you do for me, to how can I help you? Its our world. We are a circle. You give, you receive, you give you receive. Give us the shirt off your back.

Project Sunshine

sunshine

The greatest thing that has come out of being on a reality show is the platform to be charitable. Before when I attended charities I was replacing my husband who they really wanted to be there. I’d sit in a pretty dress that wasn’t mine and not eat dinner (for I had eaten with my kids) and I’d wait until it was close to dessert and leave. No one cared if I was there or not, or when I arrived or left. Now, I can make donations and am eager to support the charities that mean something to me. So, not only am I having fun and learning about new programs, I am able to contribute something, too.

Project Sunshine makes you want to give. A little time and a smile mean more to these children in hospitals that anything else.  The parents get to take a breather while their child is finally amused by a new friend who just wants to color, read, or play a game.  No strings attached, just fun for a moment. For those who believe that we create our own memories, making a child smile has no price and the memory lasts forever. Thank you Project Sunshine for the amazing event. The room was filled with a lot of love. Let’s try to get America’s landscape colored with love and not cynicism.

Those who walked the “yellow” carpet with me where Eli Manning, Tori Praver, Abigail Breslin, Jesse Palmer, John Legend, David Diehl, and Helen Ficalora. And Ace Greenberg, the head of Bear Sterns, showed me a very clever magic trick. It was the most fun I have ever had on a “yellow” carpet.

Let the sunshine in!
