I am Kelly Green and (working to be) an eco enthusiast. I am not trying to do anything but spread one thought: do what you can to make a difference. No judgments, no bells, no whistles. Pick up a piece of garbage, say hi to a stranger, recycle (duh), ride a bike, and wear love. Living well is the best revenge. Enjoy, discover, and be thoughtful because you can. I scraped and painted a bench in Central Park today to help the Central Park Conservancy. I was flattered to be asked and to make my “paint” mark.
Let’s be honest, no one really has extra cash lying around to do a shop-o-rama with their BFF like we used to. The latest and greatest for me are from my dearest friends Tomas Maier for Bottega Veneta and Jenna Lyons of J.CREW. Yes, go and spend $420 on an amazing floral ring, for it’s more than a rite of passage, it is an investment you won’t regret! As for J.CREW, Jenna’s collaboration with designer Dana Lorenz is a no brainer. Chic, cool, hard, yet soft. All are buzzwords that inspire me. Who doesn’t want to be a hippie, cool, chic, rocker?
This past Tuesday, I took my two daughters to the Crosby Hotel for the screening of OCEANS. Sea and Teddy were incredibly engaged by the beauty and the harsh realities related to the coral reefs or the “rainforest’s of the sea”. Disneynature, in celebration of EARTH Day 2010, created this amazing exploration by directors Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud. This incredible documentary was created to ensure the future of the coral reefs and to support the Planetary Coral Reef Foundation (PCRF) which was founded in 1991 to address the coral reef crisis.
It’s Spring in New York, and time to shoot those fall campaigns. I went to the restaurant Kenmare with my friends on Saturday night for a quick bite, and across the table from me were Stefano Gabbbana and Domenico Dolce. Even though I drive a pick up, I know red hot sexy clothes. I was walking back from the bank and I bumped into Stefano again. Not only are his designs hot, but so is HE! What were they in town for? They are shooting the Fall campaign. Tomorrow they are shooting the men’s campaign. I wanna go, don’t you?
Yes, I have always been obsessed with the army navy jacket. I made one (first pic in blog) with an owl to pay homage to my owl jewelry collection. Visit my KKB Onlineshopto view.
But what really inspired me was the cool jackets from J. Crew. So I decided to make one my own. I went to Pearl paint, got some paints, laid The New York Post down and started “splattering” paint like abstract expressionist Jackson Pollack. I really learned to appreciate his art once at the MOMA and when I took my kids to the Pollack Krasner House in East Hampton to see where they lived and the floors splattered in paint.
It’s fun, cheap, and speaks to the trends. Stop reading, and get painting.
I have been going into Anthropologie for years. Yes, I am decorating obsessed, but I really am desperate to make a home out of a house. Chandeliers, electic doorknobs, and duvets that scream, “cuddle” and artists collaborations from dishes to textured wall treatments make Anthropologie literally my decorating haven. The ethnic mix combined with the dainty femininity, creates and defines style in my opinion. I feel like I am walking around my dream home when I am in the store. Not to mention, the clothing is uber chic. Check out the new store on 15 and 9th in New York City and get inspired. Buy something as simple as a cup or a fragrance and you’ll walk away with lifestyle inspiration, not just a purchased item.
Yes, Zac Posen and Target got married for a minute. It’s a 24-hour shopping mad house with an opening filled with “The Like” jamming and rock girl Theodora Richards. Fashion designers Tracy Feith, Alexandra Posen, Patricia Field, and of course Zac himself were there to celebrate. Celebs and models such as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Claire Danes, Selma Blair, Mena Suvari, and Coco Rocha all showed their support. Even ELLE magazine’s Joe Zee was kickin’ it!
Congrats, Zac! He was my first interview I ever did on TV. I thought I’d share a personal picture I took of him for my book, American Style, love the pose! I love that man and his family. Congrats on bringing Zac to a great price point, Target. Oh, and I forgot my credit card. Can you imagine?
This past weekend, I spent the weekend opening the new Sandals resort in Exuma with celeb hot shots like Jesse Metcalfe, Jason & Molly Mesnick, Julia Mancuso, Antonio Sabato Jr, Roxy Olin, Maria Menounos, Tristan (who has a killer voice) and the entire Access Hollywood crew. First, I want to thank Sandals for asking me to wear a top in their beach shack. I love proper etiquette, and found it truly A list when the waitress insisted that both women and men wear a shirt at lunch. Expect excellence, and you’ll get it. I honestly had a blast with everything from running on the beach, drinking beers and singing “DREAMS” by Stevie Nicks in the karaoke bar to playing golf. Between uber athletic himself and awesome executive producer Rob Silverstein and Olympic skier Julia Mancuso’s golf prowess, I almost scored a hole in one on the golf course under their tutorial. I made some great friends, memories, scrubbed my feet with soft white sand, bathed in warm turquoise blue water, and got my behind kicked by rockstar (should be professional soccer player), Maria Menounos. All this fun was for a good cause, the Sandals Foundation which provides funds for environmental and educational programs on the island. We had a blast and raised money and awareness for kids who deserve it. Everyone deserves to smile. I can’t wipe mine off.
