Whether it was Miley Cyrus dancing in jean shorts at Loren Ridinger’s of Market America house, LuAnn de Lesseps’ daughters (Victoria) first art showing, or Lola Schnabel’s installation at the Shore Club, Basel was in full bloom. My favorite shows were Untitled and Akidcoulddothat curated by music producer Nelle Hooper. It was an amazing and inspiring.
Could this weekend foreshadow a new project?

This fall, it’s time to get cozy with color.
From Tom Ford and Valentino to 1960s art lover Lisa Perry, the fall 2014 runway shows were packed with ’60s inspirations, especially bold color and graphic designs. Bright emeralds, cobalt blue and white will make this fall a vibrant season. Even Via Spiga’s shoe ad pops with bright colors and a graphic shoe design.
If you recall, Perry’s fall 2014 show backdrop also had fun with abstract prints, with Estee Lauder creative Donald Robertson’s black-tape graphics mirrored in the smoking hot Manolo Blahnik gray suede boots on the models.
Hot tips for a fun ’60s look: Comb back your hair and wear a side part. Booties are the new high heel — go bold with fun bright colors or with pretty pastels like baby pink. Channel ’60 supermodel Twiggy with clumpy lashes for a new modern day time look. And line that upper lid with thick Tom Ford liner.
Speaking of Robertson, at his new studio on Great Jones, where he’s partnered with gallerist Eric Firestone to show off and sell his work, he’s drawn the likes of Brian Atwood and even J.Crew, who are shooting their catalogs there and throwing exclusive parties. We hear Sarah Jessica Parker wants some of Robertson’s illustrations and input for her shoe line.

Leave it to Coco Chanel to create limited edition sneakers for 2014. Since last year, Pharrell Williams sported a custom painted Chanel sweatshirt, and now the brand is taking to the streets. Sneakercon beware and Michael Jordan may need a new design team at Nike. Chanel has limited edition sneakers, they dont play. They are the coach this season. #teamChanel.

Kelly Bensimon’s apartment is undeniably chic. Using bright bold colors and mixed patterns (the fabric used to re-upholster her purple velvet couch was purchased from Zarin Fabrics, thank you very much), Kelly has created a downtown bohemian oasis. Shiny black and white painted wood floors and big, colorful artwork—including a life size sculpture of a horse—pull it all together.

‘Orange Is the New Black” has drawn raves for its diversity and complex female characters, many of which have broken out thanks to their challenging roles.
One such actress is Laura Gómez. The current New Yorker, who was raised in the Dominican Republic, plays the seemingly crazy Litchfield Penitentiary inmate Blanca Flores. But that isn’t the only notable role on her resume.
The actress is a member of the Repertorio Español, where she has participated in critically acclaimed plays, including “Doña Flor Y Sus Dos Maridos” and “La Casa de los Espiritus.”
Gómez has also been the face for brands such as CoverGirl and Suave and has provided her voice for the Spanish audiobooks for “How the García Girls Lost Their Accents” and “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.” She’s also worked in film, writing, directing and producing the short films “Hallelujah” and “To Kill a Roach.”
We sat down with Gómez at Morandi in the West Village, where she clues us into what it’s like to play Flores and what she loves about New York.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I’m from the Dominican Republic.
Q: Why did you come to New York?
A: I came here in 2001 to train as an actor.
Q: Who did you study acting with?
A: I studied the Meisner Technique with Robert Patterson.
Q: What made you connect with that technique?
A: I connected with the moment to moment of not overacting and just responding. I look for that in my own life, just trying to be present.
Q: You play a crazy person on TV. How does that make you feel?
A: It’s been liberating to use my tools in acting. In makeup, they laugh because they have to make you un-pretty. I even get a unibrow. It’s always a challenge as an actor, and I love the character work.
Q: How has “Orange Is the New Black” changed your life?
A: The show has such had a huge impact. Now when I go to auditions and meet casting directors, they know who I am. Viewers are loving the show and its diversity.
Q: You were invited to the Jeff Koons and H&M collaboration launch. What did you think of it?
A: I loved it. I just went to the Jeff Koons exhibit at the Whitney. Before I went, I was sitting in a dentist chair getting a root canal, and decided I was definitely going.
Q: You aren’t just an actor.
A: I have also written and directed two short films — “To Kill a Roach” and “Hallelujah.” I took a course at NYU’s film school. Now my films are getting into festivals and have even won awards.
Q: What’s your personal style?
A: I’m eclectic. I can go in so many directions: funky, sexy and sometimes conservative.
Q: What from your Dominican roots gave you a solid foundation?
A: I am very family-oriented and respectful of my elders. This business can be a bubble. My upbringing grounds me in humility and pride.
Q: Where are your favorite restaurants?
A: I love Gramercy Tavern, Morandi and the Asian restaurant Decibel.
Q: What do you love about New York?
A: I honestly love Central Park. It’s quiet and I love to write there.

Welcome to the Church of Thom Browne. His women’s RTW collection showed a series of women in Odile styled white oversized bobs created by Bumble and Bumble and simple soft makeup by MAC and black nails. The models wearing lace were unveiled by male model alter boys and made their way dramatically through the Chapel in hues of grey, white, and gold. The over accentuated Thom Browne suits and dresses made the high drama impact Thom wanted. The leather handbags and embroidered velvet shoes made for a new and serious statement for Fall 2014.
South Korean born designer, Son Jung Wan took NYFW week by storm with elegant hues of grey, taupe, and blue. Her signatures furs draped 30s style elegant gowns which deem perfect for a starlet to wear. Son Jung Wan, the talented and graduate of Sookmyyung University in Industrial Craft , also won the Golden Needle Award and Designer of the year in 20005 in Seoul. Her apparent love of the arts was apparent in her palette for fall. Her designs are timeless, pretty, and embellished with the finest and most sumptuous fabrics. Fall 2014 reflected this elegance even in her menswear which was flanked with fur and color.
Each Touch collection is inspired by the idea of transformation. RISDY graduate and Calvin Klein designer alum experiments with textures, killer knits, floor length shirt dressing, and her signature leggings. The collaboration with Common Projects for ankle suede/leather boots focuses on black and burgundy. Effortless and Functional with each touch.
We’ve seen actresses as muses for the fashion, but now film is taking over. Hitchcock scared us with the BIRDS, and lured us with REAR WINDOW’s golden locks and 50s elegance that the everywoman craves as the female ‘ideal.’ The coven in the horror television series AMERICAN HORROR STORY produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk is changing those angelic ideals. The entire season is fashion driven with the likes of designers like Jimmy Choo, and Alexander Wang’s collection sprawled all over the screen. Myrtl, the witch was burned in a Balenciaga red gown. Even, her last words were,” Balenciaga…”

It was crazy week filled with private concerts of Drake and Kings of Leon, at the Time Warner Centre, Coors Light, Georgetown cupcakes and truffle pizza from Tobys, and homemade chicken wings. Congrats to my new friend GoldenTate. You got this.
The small space is the new cool space.
I turned my closet into an office, and Ralph Lauren’s Mark Reynolds repurposed his Hamptons basement into a hangout space — which he affectionately calls the “naughty room” – filled with all the items he won’t part with. Another New Yorker concealed a baby’s room in an open-floored dining area by using outward-facing book shelves.
Look around and create what you need in your existing space. We all need a place to let loose and we all need a place to store our prized possessions.
“Increase the square footage of your house now without virtually any construction or additional cost,” said Reynolds, senior director Creative Services at Ralph Lauren.
So, how did he do it?
“I simply took what we already had in storage below — unused furnishings, lighting, artwork, additional household supplies, including liquor, of course, and all that family junk too precious to part with — and organized it into a living space, added a little music room, dimmed the lights and, before we knew it, a room filled with our personal blast from the past has now become the ultimate party room,” he said.
Give your space a New Year’s revolution and rebel against interior convention.
Here are some pieces to get your started:

With the weather in a funk and Mr. Sun no where to be found unless you live in Miami, let make our own January a little more fun.
Channel Kim Kardashian and wear white and pale colors ( a forecast of Spring 2014 to come, btw. I’m obsessed with Rag and Bone/jean grey jeans and a simple white v-neck tee.
Smell like the beach. Head out and get Bobbi Brown’s Beach fragrance and her body cream. Just because you can’t be at the beach doesn’t mean you can’t be beach like
Speaking of beach like, Bumble and Bumble ‘surf’ gives texture to your dry limp winter hair. Get sexy and loose, even in January.
And for your skin to feel moisturized, try FRESH sugar body scrub. You will taste like candy and your skin will feel so soft and summer like.
For those who like au natural, you can always slather yogurt all over your body. it really makes your skin feel amazing, but you MUSt be fully naked and allow the yogurt time to soak in, so either feel good about your body, or tell everyone you are washing your hair for HOURS.
Speaking of naked, Im obsessed with TOM FORD bronzer and Barrys Boot Camp. Im in need of getting this bikini body in shape not for the sun, but for the SUPERBOWL party food, Im sure to be indulging in. So get on that treadmill and get that buttocks hot and high off the ground.
For those who are obsessed with working out and the right of passage that exercise gear allows (WHAT???)))) I have to work for it and some women just walk around with a fancy bag pretending that panting is sweating. GRRR. Regardless of how you work out, C&C California has great leggings and so does JCPENNY ( yes, you heard me!!). Im obsessed with my SOUlLCYCLE and Nike workout leggings, but there is so much out there and pattern is the new black in athletic wear.
I CAN MAKE YOU HOT, but only if you SWEAT.
helpful trick, start with 5 burps every morning. Get that blood boiling, grr while you are working out, and Purr to the rest of the world. Go get ‘em!
This years HOT list has nothing to do with what I need, its all what I want. I don’t want workout leggings, or a new exercise bra, I wanna take a huge leap in 2014, one Manolo step at a time. lets not lie to each other, we’ve had a rough financial tome, so instead of crying about what we don’t have, lets buy a few items that will make friend and family SCREAM with jealousy. You can hug it out after they try to take it from you. Some of my favorites are even 70%, so you can hardly feel guilty buy indulging in some hot gold FUN.
Prada wants you to fell relaxed this resort with a cool and easy pajama pant look. They even have gorgeous pi’s that are real pjs that can be worn out for those who can’t wait to crawl into bed. Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa told me at Art Basel, that my pjs were cool.
The ultimate stamp of approval is by an adoring designer, and we all know Franciso doesn’t fool round when it comes to compliments. I decided to pull out the pjs one more time before the holidays and wear them to the screening of the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, where even Kristen Wiig, my favorite actress of all time, paid homage to my pi’s. Its a look, an old guard. “I don’t care if you think Im wearing pi’s for I am” kinda look.
Happy Holiday and if you are going to get cozy, do it in style.
Zac Posen loves MAC and MAC loves Zac at MR CHOW. Group President John Demsey held court with the likes to Zac’s mom and dad, Uma Thurman, Sandra Lee, and Dita von Tease, who is a midwestern girl and is a real blonde. MAC’s dinner was packed with even big magazine names like Amy Astley to celebrate Zac Pre-Fall 2014 collection. As a huge fan and lover of Zac’s designs, I can’t wait to feast my eyes on his new collection. I’m not going to lie, the feast we had at MR CHOW was delicious and definitely a still on the tip of my tongue. Get cozy on a date, or do some people watching. MR CHOW doesn’t disappoint.
Congrats Zac, we LOVE you.
Its true. The word is out. Designer Anthony Vaccarello will design for Versus Versace 2014. Vogue called him a design collaborator, that just fancy word choice for design genius. He will follow in the design footsteps of Christopher Kane, JW Anderson, and rapper MIA.
Known as @anthonyvacc on twitter and Anthony Vaccarello on Facebook with over 21190 likes, AV (since Im a fan of an initial) designs skin tight dresses for the smoking hot smokeshow’s of the world. If you are super sexy, work out, and love to show off what you’ve got, Anthony is for you. Graduate of La Cambre, the Belgium design school, 32 year old Brussels born, Anthony is not shy about what he’s capable of, and Donatella Versace is excited to see what he will show and not show.
Since 2008, he’s been on close watch by the fashion hawks. We wish him the best of luck with Versus. Wonder who will be at the Awards shows in one of his
Kelly Killoren Bensimon chats with nightclub guru Noah Tepperberg about his industry experiences.
The nightclub industry isn’t what it used to be, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, according to New York-raised Noah Tepperberg, who is taking “vibe dining” by storm (and has his efforts recognized by the Harvard Business School). What started with a nightclub in the Hamptons has evolved into the Tao Group and Strategic Marketing Group, which opened New York City hot spots like Tao, Lavo, and Marquee. SMG works with companies and ventures such as LVMH, Donna Karan and NASCAR to create unique brand experiences for consumers.
Tepperberg clues us in to how he created the biggest nightclubs in the industry and to all his favorite haunts in his hometown.
Where did you go to high school?
I’m a hometown boy who went to Stuyvesant.
What did you learn at Stuyvesant?
Stuyvesant is a very competitive high school in New York with the best test takers. I learned to value education. Students really cared about doing well, and are very academic.
Harvard Business School did a case study about you. Can you explain?
A professor and two business school students did a case study on Marquee, one of my nightclubs. They compared it to the movie business and sports. I gave a talk about the reinvention of the club, and participated in a Q&A.
What was the first nightclub you worked in?
AI started Conscious Point in the Hamptons from 1997 to 2001, and started a promotion company.
What makes your business model unique?
We work almost 24 hours a day. Somewhere, one of our businesses are open, and we are very connected to it.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of what we built. When [Jason Strauss and I] started in 1997, people in nightlife were stereotyped. Most people didn’t look at the business as a legit business. Now, case studies are being taught at Harvard.
What’s been your biggest mistake?
I wish that we had the vision earlier to purchase the real estate we are continuing to lease.
Which club is your favorite?
Like children, I like them all equally.
Can you name all of your venues?
A Conscious Point, Jet, Suite 16, Luahn, Dune, Avenue, Marquee — New York, Vegas, Sydney — Tao — Vegas, New York — the Dream, Arlington Club, Artichoke pizza, Beauty and Essex. I share everything with Jason Strauss, Mark Packer, Rich Wolf.
What do you think about branding water?
We are the founding members of Richard Branson’s Whole World Water Foundation. We buy recyclable glass and bottle it with our filtration system, which reduces the carbon footprint. Rich Wolf was really passionate about this, and that’s why we got involved. One dollar from each bottle goes to the Whole World Water organization, which promotes preserving and accessibility of clean water to areas of need.
How does the Tao group work with charities?
Tao Cares is a company where all of the charitable donations go through. We are very active in our communities and neighborhoods. We create toy drives, we support breast cancer, and we are very active in donating our spaces to various charities for free so they can raise more money.
Are you ready for the chicest and most expensive accessory this season. its a super must have, and everyone wants one. the FENDI baguettes are back and ready to take on the chicest New Yorkers. Even our famed Sarah Jessica Parker is wearing them. $1000-$4,000
The cool French girl is in New York. Her metallic bombers, sequin pants, and leather lace ups are exploding all over 5th ave. Get a tee, if you can. French is cool.
Check out contemporary artist Chris Burdens exhibit at the New Museum.
I wrote about him in ELLE magazine when I disputed that LA had no culture. Apparently, I was right. Burden’s epoch-defining work has made him one of the most important American artists to emerge since 1970. Spanning a forty-year career and moving across mediums, “Extreme Measures” presents a selection of Burden’s work focused on weights and measures, boundaries and constraints, where physical and moral limits are called into question.
While Perez Hilton was in New York as Miley Cyrus, I decided to go as Pebbles, and my daughter as a cheerleader, and my other daughter as a purple fairy.
Thank you Bette Midler for adding trees to New York city with your Hulaween event, and Mayor Bloomberg for keeping the streets safe for my girls to trick or treat.
She’s not a Real Housewife (of New York) for nothing. Model, business woman, celebrity TV star and MOM, Kelly Bensimon, talks money.
Let’s get honest: counting pennies and worrying about your financial future isn’t fun. So instead of wasting time worrying, get your work done, ask for help and do your accounting once a month. Spend the rest of the time having fun.
Here are five of my money lifestyle tips for doing it all.
1. Be TRANSPARENT. Tell your friends you are on a budget. If they only want to spend time with you because you have money, then they are not the friends to hang out with. Walking around Soho poking fun at life is FREE.
2. MONEY GOES IN, MONEY GOES OUT. Whatever money you spend is gone, and it’s not coming back. Don’t be a scorned money lover and dream about a time when you had more cash. Be proactive. Make a new life filled with new opportunities. It’s ok to change; it’s not ok to complain about something that has a solution.
3. FOR $100, you can open a SCHWAB account (ask for Keith Leong). This is the most thoughtful gift. Giving financial freedom to someone says, “I love you so much. I want you to be safe and have some money of your own.” Give it to you children or any loved one. Nothing is more loving than ensuring financial security.
4. What you NEED AND WANT are two different things. Make a wish list of what you want and put it on your inspiration board. Getting it will be a challenge and you will cherish it. Think in terms of objects of desire, not stuff. I have a one week rule. If I am thinking and dreaming about a purchase, I give it a week and talk about why I love it. If I make excuses as to why I NEED it, that’s my clue I can live without it. If you really, really want it, then you HAVE to HAVE it. So save up and buy it.
5. You can’t complain if you don’t ask. How many scorned women/men love to rant about a litany of things their exes didn’t give them? Ask for the car to be put in your name, or the house, while you are still living together. During the holidays, ask for gifts that hold value. He should want you to have security as much as you do. I’ve never asked an ex for anything. In fact, I always move on with kindness and love no matter what. I am giving and loving. Live with no regrets.
BONUS #KKBtip: You can’t live fearlessly if you aren’t educated. Get educated online OR go to college. GET educated. The most dangerous people are those without education. They can’t implement possibility because they don’t have the foundation and the formula. Instead of a asking for a holiday sweater, ask for a class. The smarter you are, the more confidence you will have. Education allows you to be fearless and live with possibility. GO FOR IT.
ST: And Generosity Water?
KKB: I became involved with Generosity Water three years ago. I was in Las Vegas and I met the founder at a charity dinner. I knew I could make a difference.
ST: You’ve been to Haiti for Generosity Water, to see families in need. How did that affect you?
KKB: I’ve taken several trips to Haiti, and on the past two trips, I brought my 15-year-old daughter. That was the most important part of the trip. I know I’m capable of helping, and raising raise money to provide water in areas of need, but showing my daughter what hope looks like was incredible. She has a strong social media voice, and I realized from her communicating with friends, and her friends re-tweeting and instagramming, that she has an ability to communicate and to implement real change. Her empathy coupled with her powerful vision to help impressed me. I felt so much pride, and humility.
ST: That’s awesome to hear. So tell us, what’s your role, exactly?
KKB: I’m coined as a celebrity ambassador for Food Bank, but I consider myself a friend of the family. My girls and I want everyone to be able to have a meal, have clean water, and to have and recognize possibilities. That’s my mission in life.
ST:What’s it like being a busy mom in New York? How do you juggle, yet still find time to be involved in these charities?
KKB: Philanthropy is a big part of my life. My first job is to be the best parent I can be. The second is to provide for my kids. And the third is to raise well-adjusted, giving girls. With that comes philanthropy. It was how I was raised. I don’t think of it as a duty. It’s part of my DNA. So, do what you can do, enlist your friends, tweet it, instagram Food Bank, do whatever you can to help and communicate it as loud as possible.
ST: What do you and the girls do in New York when you’re not advocating for the needy?
KKB: We just started taking ballet again. My daughters studied ballet with Manhattan Ballet School when they were younger. Now they are teenagers. I love that it is rooted in athleticism but has so much grace.
ST: We hear you. It’s a fantastic discipline. What are you working on right now?
KKB: I just finished my fifth book, In the Spirit of the Hamptons. I’m also getting my MBA. And I continue to write columns on style and to interview dynamic New Yorkers.
Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, and Britney Spears all have one — so why not Kelly Bensimon? The leggy model and former Real Housewives of New York star is set to launch her first signature fragrance, In the spirit of.
In the spirit of what, exactly? The name was inspired by her book, In the Spirit of the Hamptons, about the famous chichi playground for the elite. But, says Bensimon, the scent “should always be in the spirit of you.”
The 45-year-old New Yorker became obsessed with perfumes as a model in Paris, where she fell in love with the city’s floral shops and the arrangements she’d see in the ateliers of Karl Lagerfeld, Valentino, and other designers. When she met scent guru Sarah Horowitz, the two decided to collaborate. After just minutes of mixing and matching scents, In the spirit of was created.
According to a press release, Bensimon’s scent “has a sparkling top note of fresh cut lemon. The middle note accord is honeysuckle meeting with the lush, tropical note of tuberose, accented by a touch of spicy carnation. It rests on a base note accord of clean musk with a hint of the sexiest vanilla that is at once beautiful, warm and deep — just like the woman who inspired it.”
Bensimon spoke to Us about her favorite celebrity fragrances on Oct. 3 at a screening of The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete hosted by The Cinema Society and Tommy Hilfiger in NYC. “I like Kim Kardashian — it’s a well done fragrance. Justin Bieber — I don’t know what the base is, but it smells really good and my kids love it too. I really like the Britney Spears since it smells like carnations.”
Kelly Killoren Bensimon goes backstage to chat about Kanye and music with Austin Mahone:
Holiday season fever is already here, and with that comes many a teenager’s favorite event: the Z100 Jingle Ball on Dec. 13.

Mahone — who was feeling ill and hospitalized Thursday according to his rep — spoke to me at the lineup announcement last week at Aeropostale in Times Square, Mahone dished with me while my youngest daughter and her best friend sat by in awe of the 17-year-old star.

Tunisian born couturier Azzedine Alaia is the king of womens wear. The Galliera Museum in Paris hosted a retrospective of his incredible body hugging designs that have been worn by everyone from Grace Jones and Gisele to reality star Kim Kardashian.
I met Azzedine when I was just turned 16 years old in Mauritius. He gave me one of his first designs. My mother also had purchased one of his suits at Holt Renfew in Canada. It was love at first sight. I had just had my hair cut for Italian Vogue lingerie shoot, and in a bucket of tears he told me how beautiful I was.As a model I did fitting for his designs, was even there for his first meeting to collaborate with Louis Vuitton, and even had two wedding dresses and my brides maids dresses made by him. I bought him a Mastiff he named ‘Chamsy’ and have been in such awe of him since the minute I met him. He gave my first roommate Stephanie Seymour the most beautiful leather dresses and I wore the “bandage ” dresses that Herve Leger watched Alaia make when he was working in his atelier. He’s a genius, and known as ‘papa” to the most beautiful women in the world.
Im so sad that I couldn’t be in Paris to revel in his talent, but all I have to do is lay on the floor of my closet and smile at all the beautiful dresses he’s given me. The most amazing man in the world.
Get ready for Fall 2013 and the hotted boots of the season. Yes, Im still a Manolo Blahnik stiletto fans, but Im a having a 60’s chic moment with Paul Andrew’s smoking hot Tyrannus suede boot that comes in black and suede at Barney’s New York for a mere $1300. When in fashion doubt this Fall, go for the 60s and let the sex emote from your pores. Don’t give it away, just show the men around you , you’ve got it. They always want something they can’t have. Purrrrr
Everyone has to wake up in the morning and endure what to wear. My go to is the idea of a uniform. I love blazers, for I feel that even with a tank, I look polished. My love for fashion came from my mother who had gorgeous long black hair and was impeccably dressed. Im convinced it was her early American Airline stewardess years, where she stuffed high heels in her bag, and was told to use them as a weapon if need be.
My uniform inspired by the simplicity of my mother and the European stylists who always wore ballet flats cropped black trousers and a boat neck sweater inspired me to create my uniform. Here it is:
Im not encouraging you to buy designers, but if you stick to a uniform you can always deconstruct it.
Just few of my favorite things for Fall. Im just one of these people that likes to be prepared. So, here are three of my favorite looks for this fall so far. I have a lot more to come, but I just wanted you to get a taste in your mouth for whats on my lovelist.
Im obsessed with floral. I love how pretty and feminine it is, especially this Dolce and Gabbana to die for one. My hairdresser, Bradley Irion, always hates it when I wear floral dresses, for he prefers another of my favorite looks for Fall 2013, which is the rocker look. H&M is killing this season with the rocker look. Thigh high boots are a must. And, last but not least, Im crazed for the Prada faux fur. Its hot, retro, and looks very ladylike but can be paired with a Neff hat and be even hotter. If you can’t afford Prada, DKNY has fun faux, too. Options. A girl needs options.
My favorite shows from Paris Fashion Week are in this order: Saint Laurent, GianbattistaValli, Stella McCartney, Isabel Marant, Nina Ricci, and Lanvin.
Marc Jacobs says farewell to Louis Vuitton!
After 16 years of a fashion tour de force, Jacobs is focusing on his own brand even more. My favorite collaborations Jacobs brought to Vuitton were the artists. The Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami, and Richard Prince were my favorite and Im holding onto those bags for dear life. I met Pharell Williams at this show in Pairs, anmd Ive personally purchased a collection of luggage due to his influence at Vuitton. I will miss Jacobs evocative inspiration, but Im excited to see where he takes his own brand for I have always been a huge fan of Marc Jacobs, too. The President of Louis Vuitton taught me that if the 40 year old mother and the 16 year old daughter are wanting the same accessories, you have a brand. Jacobs created that for Vuitton. Heres to your next chapter.
Everyone from Madonna to Courtney Love are wearing Bally this season. The Dream Hotel hosted a party for Scott Lipps’ book PopLipps, Hole performed with Lipps as the drummer for Tiesto, Kelly Cutrone, Nathan Bogle, Karolina Kurkova, Peter Davis, chef Sam Talbot, and Johan Lindberg. Though trends waiver from large to small dials –– and back again! –– I always favor a piece with a bigger case. Being a tall guy, a more substantial machine strapped to my wrist just looks and feels proper. These tickers are some of the biggest and most stylish guys out there today. (all prices are approximate)
– Panerai: Luminor Base – With the distinctive Panerai crown guard, this 44mm black-and-white bruiser is incredibly handsome, rugged and easy to read with its clean, no-nonsense dial. $5,500 in stainless steel
– IWC: Big Pilot’s Watch – Like the name says, this watch is big! Measuring in at 46mm, you’ll have no problem seeing both the date and 7-day power reserve displays. $15,400 in stainless steel
– Rolex: Deepsea – This 44mm diver is as versatile as they come –– not to mention sexy. It transitions easily from day to night and wears just as well with jeans and a tee as it does with a tux. $11,000 in stainless steel
– Blancpain: Fifty Fathoms Automatique – The 45mm Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, which was introduced in the early 1950s, is the first modern diving watch: the mother of all divers. $12,500 in stainless steel
– Bell & Ross: BR01-92 Gold Ingot – A definite statement piece: this 46mm pink gold pilot’s watch is flashy, yet refined, and refuses to be ignored. $23,900 in pink gold
Fashion darling/art world darling … Well, actually artist Ashley Longshore is both.
For Chloe’s 60th anniversary party last year, Chloe commissioned a few big artists to create a painting celebrating Chloe at Art Basel. Ashley, of course, was in the mix because of her sensationalistic and larger than life images, which are glitter-filled and charmingly sarcastic.
Longshore is bold and not afraid to poke fun. Her muses range from Kate Middleton to Kate Moss, and she’s not afraid to show them in her own way. Playful yet clever, Longshore is the one to watch. She wants to make a mark on the New York art scene, as long as she can weekend in New Orleans: that’s her Hamptons.
Check out why she’s obsessed with New York and how a sweet Southern girl from Montgomery, Alabama, got all that courage.
How did you get involved with the art world? I’ve always been expressive. At 18, I asked my dad for his Amex, and I bought some drums and an art kit. I took a bong hit and drew a painting of a Grateful Dead acid bear.
Why the bear? I went an all-girls boarding school. I was a rebellious Southern girl. I loved the bear for it was the most dramatic teddy bear I’d ever seen.
What inspired you after the teddy bear? After boarding school, I moved to Montana. I wanted to ride horses and paint. I spent my days painting, riding and jumping horses. I got really deep in Montana … I painted the news and people got upset about it.
How do you describe yourself? Some like to be cool, and some are nerds. I’m comfortable with who I am: wild, colorful and don’t give a f—.
How would you describe your art? I paint with a moment of sensationalism. I paint the way I do and the way I see the world: colorful and comedic. It’s how I’m meant to express my self in the world.
What do you like about New York? I’m not nearly the freakiest person here. I love to be inspired and there is so much to sponge. It’s a place where human interaction inspires me. I love the fashion. It’s amazing to see the people peacocking in New York.
What’s your favorite restaurant in New York? Blue Ribbon Sushi, Il Buco, Catch and Grimaldi’s when I’m hung over. My favorite meal is lunch.
What’s your favorite club? I went to The Box and I saw things I’ve never seen before, like really raunchy. I’d never even attempt to paint it for I couldn’t do it justice.
Any advice? It takes a whole lot of energy to be fearless today. … Be you.
James Scully, casting director to the biggest designers like Stella Mc Cartney and Tom Ford, doesn’t have instagram, but he does have the inside scoop on Paris Spring 2014 Fashion week.
Here are his top 5.
1. Number one moment this week The Ric Owens show! he just shut down this city! A real fashion moment Paris has not seen in years
2. the Lanvin sketches that Alber turned into very delicious cookies that were given as gifts this week.
3. the crop of sexy new girls well be featuring on Stella McCartney’a runway this week.
4. the Azzedine Alaia exhibition opening in the newly renovated fashion Museum
5. Always being able to see the Eiffel Tower from everywhere I go.
Is it true that Im actually a housewife who cooks, cleans and does laundry? You can move me to the big city, but you can’t take the Illinois out of the girl. No way, no How!. Im even known my Chrome Hearts designer Richard Stark as lawnmower for I mowed my parents lawn as a teenager. My lawnmower of choice is electric for it takes up all the excess debris. And Im a fan of the Toro weedwacker. I digress. I love to wash my own laundry. One tip is not to use the pods for small loads of laundry. Its like using a big glop of soap on your hands. All you need is a little. and try to use a simple rinse versus a full hour to be economical and not to abuse your clothes. When I was a model in Paris, I used to do my laundry in my nicest clothes for my cozy clothes were being washed.
For floors, I suggest to use a teaspoon full of Clorox bleach mixed in with your floor cleaner. I also use hot water for the floors and a few drops of lavender on the floors. You can wipe out the doggie crates with lavender to calm them and to keep them from making an accident on the floors. And for the prettiest floors drape a warm rag over a mop to create a bigger sweeping area. It keeps the lines away and the shine to stay. Word has it that Tide is tying out a Tide laundromat? Could be good, but always dress for the man you want, you never know who you”ll meet at the laundromat.
TV review: Trophy Wife, 3 stars. 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on ABC.
The new ABC series “Trophy Wife” is “The Brady Bunch” on steroids. It depicts the trials and tribulations of a young newlywed who has to deal with lots of stepkids — as well as her older husband’s exes.
And it hits the nail on the head.
I should know: I lived that life. One day you’re single and singing karaoke after being dumped by some jerk — the next minute, you meet HIM. He’s everything your ex isn’t: charming, well-raised, older, educated, owns a home and has a job. He’s easy to fall for, and he makes you feel like you’re the only person in the room.
But he’s got baggage, and plenty of it.
I dated losers until I met Gilles, who was older, French and smelled like Guerlain’s Vetiver cologne: the polar opposite of everyone I had dated.
On “Trophy Wife,” Kate (Malin Akerman) is a colorful young bride who all of a sudden has a lot to deal with. Lucky for her, at least, her husband’s ex-wife wasn’t Elle Macpherson! Mine was, and I had to be compared to “the Body” my entire married life.
I used to ask myself how I could ever measure up.
Kate has to deal with the ex-wives club, too. Her confidence and charm are infectious as she treads not so lightly in her new environs. First wife Diane (Marcia Gay Harden) is a prestigious doctor who really has her act together. The second wife, played by Michaela Watkins, is a tree-hugging free spirit who loves massage and reflecting on the universe.
Not only does Kate have to navigate their personalities, she has to endure it every week, because her new husband (Bradley Whitford) has children with both wives. Every Wednesday and every weekend, Kate’s house is packed with children under the age of 16.
Like Kate, I had a stepdaughter who was a just few years younger than I. Gilles’ oldest daughter is brilliant and charming, so I enjoyed befriending her. Still, it was strange being only a few years apart. Like Kate’s stepdaughter, Gilles’ daughter would ask me questions I didn’t feel comfortable answering — intimate details you typically share with a bestie and not your husband’s daughter. She’d introduce me to guys she knew her dad would hate, just to see what I would say.
On the show, Kate tells her stepdaughter stories of how she snuck alcohol in water bottles to pregame, but I quickly learned that listening got me a lot further with my stepdaughter than dishing on my own experiences (plus, you never know when they’re going to use your stories as a kind of how-to manual for getting into trouble).
My favorite scene in “Trophy Wife” is when Kate goes to her stepson’s middle school to talk to his teacher. The first wife and Kate end up hearing what a young, creative male mind thinks of the opposite sex. Of course, Kate is accused as the object of his desire. The last wife is always the go-to for any blame or shame. We are the ones who “caused it all,” no matter what.
With two ex-wives who are at odds and a chaotic cross-section of stepkids, including an adopted Asian boy and two precocious teenagers, to round out the family, “Trophy Wife” is accurate and hilarious.
Kelly Killoren Bensimon is a former model, star of “Real Housewives of New York” and author. She has two children with her ex-husband, fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon.
Who’s on the top hot list for the EMMY’s? Getting dressed for the EMMY’s is one of the ultimate nights for actresses to feel like a real princess. My top list is short.
Sofia Vergara was a stunner in a red Vera Wang. I did, however, have dinner with her, Nick Loeb and his sister who were honestly rude. I was surprised that at a table for 6, the Loeb family was not as well mannered as I would have expected. Lets be honest, the only time you can exhibit bad behavior is on reality television. If its in pubic, you are in trouble.Lets blame it on the Botox. Ill give anyone a second chance.
Malin Ackerman star of Trophy Wife is one of my favorite actresses today. She’s funny, charming, and real. I loved her Marchesa dress which had princess all over it.
Robin Wright looked just right in her Ralph Lauren gown. She’s sophisticated and a beautiful example of aging with beauty.
Rose Byrne has to be the kindness actress Ive ever met. In her Calvin Klein dress she looks elegant and breathless. I miss her brown hair, but sometime change is good.
Connie Britton is a super hot mama. We are neighbors and she couldn’t be more amazing and kind. She looks incredible in her embroidered Naeem Khan dress.
And last but not least is Alison Williams in her Ralph Lauren gown who looks New York sophisticated.
Happy Saturday. This week has come to a close after a lot of events. Sea is starting to baby sit, Teddy started in a new play and learned a new song on the piano. I attended a Borrowers first event where they are focusing on the borrower and helping them through financial difficulties. Do you know how many people have serious financial issues? Its not because they made the wrong choices, it could be attributed to Katrina, housing issue, or even the fact that they put there business on a credit card. Yikees. Joie Rucker and Caroline Calvin of Calvin Rucker was in town at the Coterie and killing it with her cool new line.Emmy Rossum is the new face off Origins and the super talented and brilliant Jane Lauder is at the helm. Lauren Bush Lauren and Women’s Health are hosting a FEED10 run10 charity run, and I took my bestir Matthew Zink to the set of RHONY. Adam McCollum the watch king, clues you into the best watches and Us Weekly beauty expert, Gwen Flamberg takes you the throughout the coolest beauty tips this Fall. and Yann Vasnier the nose of Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs has tells us who are his favorite muses.
Lauren Bush Lauren and Women’s Health held an intimate pre run dinner in Brooklyn. I’m kinda of obsessed with Brooklyn as it is quiet, family oriented, and definitely a relaxed environment. My daughter and I met Lauren at the Food Bank event where she was seated next to my daughter. Lauren was kind and open to my 15 year old daughter about her travels and the impact on making good choices for your life. My daughter then heard Lauren spoke and was so impressed by the work she does and the bags she makes, FEED PROJECTS. My daughter and her friends are the generation of change. They have an active social media network that can make an impact in one second. They can choose to hurt each other by posting slanderous things and tagging each other on social media, or they can focus on the world issue that not everyone has food/water.Its and issue, a big issue. Encourage your children to make good choices and to use their network for change. They can implement change. Here are a few ideas. Start a lemon aid stand, have them work in the shelters, raise winter coat funds, or organize a party where each child pays $10 to see each other.
This is our world, nurture it.
I took bathing suit designer, Matthew Zink of Charlie, out on the town with me. We headed up to Bloomingdales to meet my friend Diana DImenna to support handbag designer Yliana Yepez. We then went to the PIT to film the Real Housewives of New York CIty with Luann and Carole Radzill. They were perfuming a comedic skit, you must watch. I introduced Matthew to all the ladies and it was fascinating to see how women of all ages talk to a bikini designer. They either show their bums or show a picture of themselves in a bikini. It was awesome to see the excitement of women to want to show off their bikini bods. More power to them.
We then headed down to Lure to meet more friends and feast on sushi and wine. I loved my night out with Matthew Zink. We got to see a lot of people and talk about EVERYTHING. For more info on my bestie.
No matter what you’ve seen on television, or in movies, the life of a model isn’t easy, and the modeling industry isn’t easy to break into. Not every model is a drug addict or serial actor’s arm candy. Most are young, hardworking girls who take the industry very seriously. This Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week, the city is packed with early-20-somethings looking for that big break or that big show to launch their careers or just pay their rent. Model Elena Kurnosova, 21, is no exception. Without an agent or a visa, Kurnosova came to New York from Moscow a few years ago, landing many big shows (even closing out Betsey Johnson’s show at Fashion Week!) She tells amNewYork the real story behind New York Fashion Week.
How did you get to New York? I was modeling in Europe for Armani, Gucci, Hello Kitty, John Galliano and Valentino. Since I didn’t have any editorial, I went to Mexico to shoot for magazines. I couldn’t come to New York first for I needed to come on my own, and New York agencies won’t bring you here. I was on all the runways, and all the big editors saw me. No one in New York would bring me here. Even in Europe I went to Milan with my mom. Without a visa or good English, I started to model and test [take photos without getting paid] with some photographers. I stole my friends’ castings and got shows like that.
What shows did you do this week?
Betsey Johnson, Joanna Mastroianni, Alice + Olivia, Marc & Estel, Fashion Palette, Rita Vinieris …
What do you wear to castings? I wear shorts, a plain tank top and heels to show my legs and body. I don’t wear makeup.
Do you consider yourself a great runway model? I heard a lot of compliments that I walk good, so I feel I’m a good model.
How much money do you make per show? It depends. Around $2,000 to 5,000 a show.
How many shows do you walk in a day? … Two to three shows a day.
How many shows a day do you walk in Europe? I wasn’t put in the show packages … but I did nine shows this season, and a few seasons ago in Europe, seven to 11 shows.
What’s your favorite thing about New York? The city holds a lot of energy. … New York is the place to get your career to the top.
Do you still see a lot of models do drugs? Some models do drugs, but not the working ones. I don’t drink, smoke or do drugs. I work out every single day.
What do you eat for lunch every day? A Cobb salad with shrimp and avocado and juice from Organic Avenue. The CFDA helped all the models get a discount so we’d eat healthy during the week.
What’s the worst thing that happened? The first time I came to New York, I had no friends or agency. … It was good for [me because] I spent a lot of time alone, and I worked on myself. It’s not easy to be alone in New York and struggling.
Where do most models hang out? Lavo, 1 Oak and The Darby.
Any advice? If you want it, you have to work for it. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am today.
Now that New York Fashion Week has ended with a ceremonial sacrifice of an Oscar winner (thank you for that, Robert), Celebuzz decided to bring in our favorite fashion expert Kelly Bensimon to recap the best-dressed stars coming in and out of Lincoln Center. Who topped her list? Find out by watching the video, above.
And since this is my last official day at Celebuzz (!), you’re getting a bonus video, in which Kelly and I discuss the latest trend from fashion week: reality stars turned legitimate designers. (I would have guessed “florals for spring,” but whatever.)
Amare Stoudermire gives back in a big way. Lala Anthony and Carmello Anthony sat in the front row and cheered on their gorgeous children for the Kids Rock event that helps and supports distressed children. My girls had such an amazing time walking the runway at Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central, and I’m also proud that my girls can use their social media to implement change and make a difference.
Thank you for having my beautiful daughter on the runway. She felt like a SUPERMODEL.
Once upon a time there was a designer who made the hottest surfer inspired dresses in neoprene. The company is Clover Canyon and the line is loved by celebrities like Khloe Kardashian and even me. My favorite dress is the full length neoprene. And I love the beach scenes.
Don’t let his raspy voice or his faux fur on HSN fool you. Dennis Basso’s Spring 2014 collection is so filled with chic looks of bright high two toned shoes and colored fur warming soft muted feminine dresses. It was a spectacular collect, probably my favorite since the heels were smoking hot and high. In tow was Brooke Shields, Supermodel Carol Alt, and even Hoda came to watch the spectacular show. I was in love with Dennis all over again.
At Bagdley Mischka were every model looks like they are ready to receive an Oscar. I loved the muted florals, and the even the white trousers. The black and white heels were too die for, my eye was obsessed with them. Back stage, it was like a 90s supermodel reunion with Nikki Taylor, Petra Nemcova, and Chrissy Tiegen with her finance in tow. Sitting next to me was a designer from London who was inspired by American Classic evening gowns. I was so impressed that Europe is looking to America for inspiration.
Everyone from Madonna to Courtney Love are wearing Bally this season. The Dream Hotel hosted a party for Scott Lipps’ book PopLipps, while Hole performed with Lipps as the drummer for Tiesto, Kelly Cutrone, Nathan Bogle, Karolina Karakova, Peter Davis, chef Sam Talbot, and Johan Lindberg. Get ready for fur, leather leggings, sky high heels, and killer music.
Fall is here.
Kelly Killoren Bensimon goes into her closet and falls into Fall2013 with new specific looks from Spencer at Barney’s New York
NYFW has started and everyone is already exhausted. Why? The parties are almost more exciting than the shows. Well not really, but its been a blast seeing everyone after such a long summer. So while the kids are back to school, we adults are ready to have a blast and see wants hot for the new season.
Son Jung Wan was a breath of fresh air with very feminine lines for the season, and a pop of yellow. I go to wear an amazing yellow dress that looked fairy like. I added my own touch with an Azzedine Alaia belt to give it a hard and soft edge.
Rebecca Taylor got $4 and the collection looks like it with mens and womens wear mixed, amazing metal and leather booties, and style that is sophisticated and affordable. It was fun seeing Nigel Barker there and the cast from HBO “Girls”.
The Dior party at SAKS was filled with Jessica veil and fashionistas and bloggers. I went with a white cut out Azzedine Alaia to the floor gown and belted it to give it a was it and more chic appeal.
The MAC party inspired by Antonio at Odeon was spirited and filled with Sophia Coppola and Kelly Osborne among the fashion and beauty elite.
Mathieu Mirano was an incredible presentation filled with red and skins. His designs are making fashionistas crazy and everyone in the tents were asking me what I was wearing.
Congrats to Mathieu. Check out his video.
More to come as always.
Stacy Bendet has done it again. The Spring 2014 was sophisticated, quirky, and expensive. My daughter, who was my sidekick, loved a lot of the looks especially the shorts looks and the butterfly handbag. Its time for Spring even thought its fall with patterns, crisp white, and tons of metallic peeking through. Abs are the new breasts and the cut outs are everywhere.
So, get to the gym.
My name is Kelly Killoren Bensimon. My job is to clue you into the behind the scenes of fashion week Spring 2014. I can’t wait to introduce you to all of my friends who make fashion week exciting and my friends who make fashion one if the biggest industries.
Here we go…..
The first day of fashion week is hard in the Fall, for its 80 degrees outside and we are looking at Sping 2014 clothes. This season for my first few days, I decided to go with all red Azzedine Alaia and yellow Manolo Blahnik satin shoes. I love bold colors, but I love the simplicity of all red. To meet my friend Giuliana Rancic, I decide to channel my peasant look with Balenciaga dress, Chanel quoted bag, and Manolo Blahnik fringe booties. And for the Styled to Rock party, Iw as inspired by Caddy Shack and dressed Old Guard chic. My Olcay Gulsen top and white Gucci pants paired with silver Jimmy Choo set the stage for a chic look juxtaposed to the rocker inspired party.
Get ready its all coming at you.
New York Fashion Week for spring 2014 is here, and the same thing comes to mind every season. I’m eager to wear all my latest and greatest for fall 2013, but it’s still warm out and I’m more excited about next spring. Fashion: can’t live with it, can’t live without it.
Which shows am I looking forward to? Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, Calvin Klein, Jill Stuart, J.Crew, Clover Canyon, Badgley Mischka, Ralph Lauren, alice + olivia and Dennis Basso. I wish Ralph Lauren’s line Denim and Supply were having a show, but I’ll just have to head to University Place for the coolest fall weekend looks.
As for what I’ll be wearing to the shows, my fall trend must-haves are:
bedazzled collars and accessories, platforms, faux fur, leather anything and menswear suits. Florals are still big and so are plaids. And gold is the new black.
Beauty-wise, I like tousled sexy hair for fall. Leave your brush in the bathroom and amp your hair with Oribe’s texturizing spray. For a sophisticated edge, wrap it in a bun.
For makeup, go for the “no-makeup makeup” look with the help of Tom Ford Beauty. Or amp it up with a hard-core smoky eye. Red lips are in when paired with nudes, not with black, unless it’s Halloween.
And if you want to get super-trendy, bedazzle your hair with a sexy headband or amp up a T-shirt with leather leggings and go biker.
It’s fall and even though the weather is still hot, I’m in Fall. The girls started school, my friend Gwen from USweekly will clue us into beauty secrets right off the Michael Bastian show and men’s fashion guru, Darryl Heartthrob Hartmann has a new blog you’ve gotta see. And from me, I wanted to give you a sneak peak into how I spent my Labor Day weekend, family style.
Lets fall in together!
Check out my great friend, writer, and Yale grad. Yes he’s all that, and now JCrew made him a supermodel writer.
His travel blog is definitely worth checking out.
heres our supermodel… Tumblr link.
The girls and I took to Montauk for a girls vacation and stayed at the Blue Haven. We walked all over, hung out at the beach, had lemonade ( I had a piña colada) at Surf lodge, ate fried yumminess at the Clam bar, spent the days fishing on the Montauk Viking, where we caught over 100 fish, and we took to the Hampton Classic, where we ran into Sam Edelman and watched the Grand Prix. Last, but not least, we had a bonfire and cooked our catch to celebrate the last day of summer, and the beginning of fall. Memories are what you make, so make sure you make what you want to remember.
It’s officially the end of summer when the US Open starts. With a golden goblet in hand care of graciou Moet Chandon, my sister and I watched Serena Grunt her way to victory with a ballet skirt and cat eye makeup. I have to be honest, I did have tennis outfit envy and thought that Serena’s warm up blazer was smoking hot and very cool. She got it, killer instinct, athleticism that is incredible to see in really life, and fashion sense that is so cool and modern.
Platforms will always be here. When you’re short and need length they work, when you need something with a cushion-they help. People constantly want to “croak” this trend. I don’t know why. But I say they’re here to stay and offered in so many different types of lifts, you will now have to reprogram your mind to figure out just how high or low you want to go.
Here’s a fall sampling of my favorites:
Reality bites sometimes. I fell in the street this summer. I fell in flats. Yes I did. I wasn’t texting and walking. I was trying to get to Loehmanns and I fell on west 73rd street breaking (it’s not as bad but easier for story purposes) my right foot. So my summer/preFall will be in these medicinal marvels. $50. And giving me a wee bit of a lift because I can’t wear my Adidas
Slides with everything.$50.
The silver semi “Ferragamo” inspired, Art Deco shoe with a lug sole-any lug sole-makes me always feel like a sexy truckdriver. My favorite Alaia’s have a lug sole. Which you need in NY. Strapped up, down…The pavement is so hard and you’re always walking…it’s a way to look badass and elegant. @Prada stores soon. Waiting list open. I will be buying these anyway. My Prada size never changes and ill slip these on when I’m healed and no one else will be wearing!
Prabal Gurung for Casadei
Sex on a stiletto! this is a slice of heaven. Slim platform, olive, crazy buckles another contraption. Gawd. These make me INSANE! @Barney’s NY at store now!
Sam Edleman Boots
These are a replica of a Balenciaga boot. The Olsen twins (both)wore the original one and I missed out on it then and now it’s back and under $100. I think these are haute and I would feel like an Olsen who are my style icons. @century21 stores but RUN
One sad thing this summer about basically breaking my foot is not being able to wear my new Alexa Wagner platforms. I had plans to pair a summer shoe with tights and contrast for fall but I won’t be back on heels for a while if I want to walk again. Anywhoo-these are so beautiful. High. But so GORGEOUS on the foot. Give your leg quite a line. An elongated calf even if you don’t have legs for days. (If your calf is very wide you probably will shy away from it.) I love news and this is where it’s at. @Far Fetch (Online order)
I just think these are outstanding. He adds a small pad in the shoe as he knows women suffer to be sexy. Small platform is manageable. These are like little works of art that you can walk in. I love the colors. I love the mix. I adore the design. He’s such a pro and used to design for Donna Karan-now he’s all on his own. Made in Italy (for real) Keep watching.

Us Weekly Magazine
Is this going to be the fall where no one wears makeup, and lives up to every man’s dream that their female love can walk around without makeup? This no makeup madness seems to be a big trend that has us normal girls, a little miffed. Is the Kardashian look out, and fresh faced is in? Can Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus get away with being major A list stars and go on the VMA’s without makeup???? The look of naturally beautiful is in. And fortunately that works for most of us, like myself that put false eyelashes on and couldn’t get them off even with goons of baby oil. Guilty. I typically stick to bronzer by Urban Decay and eyeshadows by Tom Ford beauty, and my mascara is typically L’real Voluminious- for I don’t like makeup all the time, but I do like doe fresh eyes. I love the keep it fresh look, but for those who want to go rocker, that trend is hot and sexy this season too. Check these fresh faces out.
The VMAs are channelling fall fashion with tons of bling everywhere. We saw bling on Miley Cyrus on the red carpet. Even Selena Gomez’ blue gown had a modern touch of bling to enhance the sexiness of the dress. Bling is king and its taking over accessories and even teeshirts at Jcrew. With a black teeshirt and a bejeweled neckline, even a Hanes tee looks expensive. So have fun, bling it out, and this season, its never enough. Tweet me picts of you in bling. I wanna see how you bring it with bling.
Leave it to Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence to pick Odeon restaurant for her interview. The fries are the best there at the infamous Tribeca haunt notorious for its late night dinner scene in the 90s.
Whats HOT in the September issue besides a Jimmy Choo ad featuring Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence photographed by Mario Testino, one piece wonders feature on the comeback of the one-piece jumpsuit, Ruzwana Bashir globe trotts all over the world with her travel blog, Elder Statesman designer ( first seen in JCrew catalogue) talks family and design, and Adam Driver gets Supermodel with a fashion feature with Daria Werbowy, and Ragged glory gets hippie grunge. Models get their names in print, and ads get better and better.
My favorite all time page is of course, LAST LOOK, which features a waterproof tweed bag of a mere, $4.495.
Happy end of August.
To me everyone owns an estate, and the contents of every home reflect he personality of the owner. I collected Moroccan carpets, Italian made beds, Capri pottery, couches that drown you, vintage chandeliers and and home goods that reflect a European style: eclectic and fun.
After the big sale, where we even rented a Uhaul ( my other car is a Uhaul), my daughter Sea and my best friend Bradley Irion and I went to town on my New York apt and a started to make my apartment brand new with new style reminiscent of Further Lane, but not mourning it.
Keep what you love, and pile color high.
Memories are made by you, no one else can make them for you. Be discerning.
Summer is winding down fast — and what better to recap the year’s hottest season than by taking a look back at some bikini bodies? With the help of Bikini Book author and former Real Housewives star Kelly Bensimon, Celebuzz analyzes the nice highs (Rihanna! Kate Upton!) and extreme lows (Sydney Leathers) in our exclusive video, above.
This August as fall approaches its time to get rid of whats in storage and start living. Drink orange juice out of goblets, monogram your jeans short, and decorate those locks with bejeweled headbands. Its time to close the door of the past, and welcome the future with open arms. Ive even become a fan of leopard this season, and I monogrammed my shorts for a fun summer effect. The girls and I opened up the storage unit and had a huge estate sale at Georgica restaurant . We had kept all our belongings at Twin Forks Moving in East Hampton and every month I kept wondering why I was happy living in my apt, when there were THREE semi trucks full of beds, chandeliers, couches, rungs, lamps, champagne glasses sitting collecting dust. In true kkbstyle, I unloaded the goodies and sold them at a great price. Everyone kept telling me how great the things I had bought were, and for once I recognized that I had a specific fast in home decor that people really loved. Its time to unload and decorate your apartment with what your family loves and needs. Break free from the past, wear leopard, and get geared up for Fall. Its going to be good.
This season is all about SKINS. I wore my Dolce & Gabanna dress to the MOET CHANDON 270th anniversary, and my daughter cannot keep her eyes off the leopard we are seeing everywhere. DVF has a leopard silk dress that very ladylike, Prada has a handbag and ankle strap sky high heel thats Purrfect. And even Juicy Couture created their ad campaign that’s skin obsessed. Stephanies leggings from C and C and easy and make a workout even hotter, or pair them with a gold sandal and a tee ala Kate Moss chic, or with a faux fur vest and a bootie. We are about to get skinnyyyyyyyy!!
Tell the world that is yours. Im obsessed with monograms and I even put out on my jean shorts. I monogram paper napkins, plastic cups, and even pillows. The Monogram Shop will monogram wine glasses. They made me “FORCED FAMILY FUN” plastic cups and note pads that had “complaints” on them for any cast mates with complaints. My girls and I love the uniqueness of the monogram, its speaks to Old Guard charm, and has a playful sensibility. Louis Vuitton’s Soho store showcases how they monogram right before your eyes. It made me want to get a monogram LV bag. Is it my style?
Here are some items left from my sale, if you didn’t get to come to my dale, here are some of the items left. Price upon request.

How Kelly Killoren Bensimon and her family are using the forces of social media, traditional media and personal brand building to make positive change in the world.
Hey baby, how’s your brand? Everywhere you turn these days, otherwise normal, well-adjusted people are talking about the importance of their personal brands, the proper use of social media and how to grow their network of followers and friends. Wasn’t it just a few years ago you thought Facebook, Instagram and Twitter were frivolous past-times, like playing Minesweeper or Candy Crush Saga?
Now it seems to be commonly accepted that for anyone launching a business or seeking to be recognized as an expert, there’s no shying away from social media – or any media, frankly. A strong personal brand requires visibility – which leads you to more customers, more paying gigs and…wait for it…more power.
That’s right, we said “power”. Your media presence gives you a platform upon which you can speak, tweet and share your views. As respect for your voice (i.e. your brand) grows, you begin to influence people’s opinions and actions. They turn to you for your perspective on certain matters. That, dear friends, is power.
Now before you get all Lex Luthor on us, we recognize that the reason most people build a brand is not because they are power-hungry supervillains; they merely seek to get more people to buy their services or books or cupcakes or whatever it is they are selling. However, once you have built a brand and established an audience, you have an amazing opportunity to create social change – hopefully, positive social change. In other words, you really can use your powers for good!
A powerful example
The Real Housewives of New York City alumni and friend of Golden Girl Finance, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, is a terrific example of someone who has established a powerful personal brand, which she tirelessly uses for good.
Three years ago, Kelly was filming on the site of Housewives, when Haiti was hit with the devastating earthquake that killed hundreds of thousands of people and left some three million people without homes, jobs, schools, food or water. Kelly immediately began thinking about how she could use her platform as one of the ‘Housewives’ to help with relief efforts. She reached out to her fans, began to fundraise and ran a marathon to raise even more money. With the funds secured, she traveled to Haiti where she helped dig wells to bring clean drinking water into impoverished communities.
This summer, Kelly and her 15-year old daughter returned to Haiti, this time on a mission with Generosity Water, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean water to communities in developing countries. Before they went, they once again raised money and awareness for the charity. As Kelly says, “With a media platform, even more than the money you raise is the database you can compile for these charities. Millions of people and supporters. One tweet can go to millions of people. Just think of the actions you can inspire.”
Generation of change
Kelly believes that the teenagers and kids of today are the ones with the real potential to implement social change. They are growing up naturally interacting with social media, reaching huge audiences and connecting with others around the world, without so much as raising a pierced eyebrow. It is therefore incumbent upon older generations to help guide them toward a sense of social responsibility and awareness, teaching them how to use their powers for good.
“I took my daughter twice to Haiti,” said Kelly. “I wanted her to go and see the wells we have built, to show her how much change can happen when people do what they say they will do. She visited the children at an orphanage and saw for herself what a difference having water from a well can make to their lives.”
Beyond building wells, Kelly wanted her daughter to meet the other mission volunteers. “She saw all these doctors, consultants and professional people who were using their vacation time to do exhausting work around the clock in order to help others. I want my kids to be exposed to people like that: inspiring, hard-working, generous people.”
Kelly’s daughter went on to raise $7,500 and built a well of her own that will supply water to people for 20 years. “The experience has given her more empathy,” says Kelly, “and a greater understanding about the hierarchy of needs.”
Of course, you don’t need to go to Haiti to teach your kids about helping others. Kelly started out taking her girls on food drives for the Salvation Army and on trips to the Food Bank for New York City.
“I didn’t expect anything of them at first, just brought them along when I would go volunteer or visit,” said Kelly. “Afterward we would talk about what they saw and I would offer positive encouragement. ‘Did you see the effect you had on people? When you handed that woman the bag of groceries, did you see how she smiled at you? Can you imagine how different her week will be knowing she has food to eat?’”
Kelly sees it as making kids comfortable with social responsibility. “Many kids are just not exposed to real levels of poverty and crisis. They know other people have less than them but don’t really think about how those people feel or what they can do to help. The more exposure they have, the more empowered they feel about helping and it becomes ingrained in them. They feel comfortable contributing on their own terms.”
Wielding your power
We all have finite resources. Once you and your family begin using your powers for good, you will quickly find that there is always more work to be done. More great causes, more people in need and more donations required. There will always be more requests for support than you can ever handle. So how do you choose what to support and what to decline?
Kelly offers these tips:
-Be aware and be proactive. When you choose to work with a charity, get to know how it works, financially and operationally. Always be hands-on when raising money and understand exactly where and how that money will be used. Unfortunately, there are people out there who create charities just to host parties. Seek out quality organizations that really need your help and where you can make the most impact.
-Focus your efforts. Choose one or two causes or commit to a sector. Kelly and her daughters have chosen to support charities that provide food and water to people in need. In addition to being a Celebrity Ambassador for Generosity Water, Kelly and her girls support the Food Bank for New York City.
-Give what you can. You receive a request from a friend or a charity asking for support. You believe it’s an important cause and want to help, but you don’t have the means to provide what they are asking for. Be honest. There are always different levels of support. If you can’t afford to buy a gala ticket, offer to help stuff swag bags instead. If you don’t have the time, maybe you can help corral a couple other volunteers.
Your own mission
We love the way Kelly and her family are using the forces of social media, traditional media and personal brand building in order to make positive change in the world. The philanthropic work they do to help others has the add-on effect of bringing them closer together as a family unit. It is a virtuous cycle of goodness that we hope will inspire you to find your own mission, too.

Where are you on your summer vacation? While I watch on Instagram friends Mediterranean specially Greece, my girls and I are keeping it local and All American family style. Where would I want to be when I have time off, with my family and friends. We packed a FIAT 500 and hit the 495 to Montauk to the Haven. Filled with luxury and Grecian inspired, the Haven is simple white, clean, and decked with the most beautiful flowers. Located near Gosmans on the marina, the Haven is a stones throw from the beach. ready for a bonfire? no problem. quick dip in the morning? no problem. MY 15 year old has even started driving in this safe and be achy environment. What have we been up to when we are not laying on the beach? i took the girl to the #rlgirl fashion show, we supported Lauren Bush Lauren and her family at the #FEED event, we sold In the Spirit of the Hamptons along with Alec Baldwin, Dr. Ruth, and even Gwyenth Paltrow to raise $300,000 for the East Hampton Library, ate tacos at the Hideaway, and listened to great music at the Surf Lodge, and ate ice-cream at Johns, and met friends for lunch every day at the best organic lunch spot Joni’s, where you will see hippies to Julianne Moore. I even had a few pina coladas from the Sloppy tuna and traffic, but the Surf lodge has the best, in my pina colada opinion What to wear in Montauk? i love Charlie by MZ bikinis and Melissa Odabash paired with nautical shirts and jean shorts. Neat nails are required and Raybans and my Persols are a must. The only bag I’m missing is a Goyard like Kate Moss wore in the Mediterranean, and of course my Sam Edelman sandals.Thats my Montauk, so far. Summer is not over and I’m ready for more fun. Next week…. get ready for pictures from my tag sale of the contents of my Further lane Home. Keep posted on twitter for date and location of the sale. Its going to be a big one!
Thank you to Gwyneth Paltrow, Alec Baldwin, Dr.Ruth, and the amazing authors who supported the East Hampton Library. We raised $300,000 in one night.
I SPY with my little eye an Iphone that is lost. The only way to get your iphone back after its lost and has everything on it; and don’t lie you have your bank passwords on it, is to call the cops with the address you found on the find my phone app or suck it up and buy a new phone. Either way seems archaic to me. Why on earth can you swipe a phone and use it, and why don’t stolen or lost phones have a beep that is constant until the owner finds it. Its should be annoying if your phone is lost, like a car alarm. The reason its not that simple is because the cops say they can’t go onto someone’s property, who has your iphone, for its trespassing and against their civil rights. So basically, because they haven’t created a clever way to block the selling of stolen phones, you have to buy a new one and the plans may not be the same. Yikees. Hold onto your phone with your life, for it may cost you a fortune to lose. My advice is create a FUapp. That is an alarm for your stolen phone.
#RLgirl had an amazing fashion show at Wollfer Estates in the Hamptons. I was so inspired by the show, that I am taking some of the shows looks into my own fall adult wardrobe. Here are my favs. I love the neff hats, and @ahotchick the necklaces take you from hippie chic to 20s Great Gatsby party girl. I’m obsessed with colored nail polish for fall. Essie and even American Apparel have festive fall colors for a wink to fall 2013 trends. The #RLgirl showed faux fur handbags for kids, and I love the Burnt gold over the shoulder bag. Its the perfect date night size. I also love Converse with dresses. I even saw a pair of Missoni Converse( jealous). And if all this isn’t enough, Jessica Alba was the host of the beautiful show. I love painting my nails. I adore selecting new polish. Money is no object when I find a color I like. I stock up. i use once. and I’m not too upset about buying tons. And most women would agree. Arm candy comes and goes. Hard candy is here to stay. this generation didn’t invent creative nail art or the concept of going Picasso on your digits. it’s been around and we’re just catching up, refreshing and rebooting.
5,000 years ago-there’s evidence that manicures and grooming are top priorities. Henna and real gold were used by women to color their fingers to obviously set them apart from their other flat footed friends. (Funny the nail image below is a bunch of what looks like guys getting buffed….nothing’s changed!)
Sunday at the Ancient Greek Mall: Getting mani’s. (imagine if they had Instagram?)
Legend. Doing some pretty outstanding things to her nails. Love this image. See? As old as this image is, does it not feel like the art of the nail is current today?
This Vogue cover with the beautiful hands and strong Red color is so posh and pulled together! Look at the shape!
Here are so many great images to google to get ideas from. But onto color! I curated what I think Are musts for Fall as I am starting to get over my lighter brighter colors and move more creamy and darker. It’s also gone back to basic though I can see all of these mixed together.
I am a huge fan of the color range. And I love to say LACQUER! Don’t you?
Essie Nail Lacquer in For The Twill Of It-this is a medium brown with that chrome effect.
Essie Nail Lacquer in Twin Sweater Set that red!
Essie Nail Lacquer in Vested Interest-teal green! It’s cool and creamy
Essie nail lacquer in After School Boy Blazer: deep blue.
Cool teal grey cream Twin Sweater Set: Vibrant crimson cream After School Boy Blazer: Deep, midnight blue
CHANEL: that’s right. I am a label whore and proud to be one. This is a dark grey brown. Dramatic. And yes it resembles that unique hue of the Hudson River-no? A must.
YSL: I think these all rock. Glad they kept the “Y”. I can see moving into all of these colors week after week. Gris…I love saying GRIS AND GREIGE!
Nars: Always makes me nuts from the early years starting with Chinatown to now: NARS Fall 2013 Color Collection Nail Polishes (Fury & Galathee)
OPI: Blackened navy cream this time! YES!
Jin Soon: this Iris blue is a sellout!
French Continues: Essie Berry hard with as Gold as it Gets. It’s the color that makes me fall in love!
The OPI silver and gold. The foil decadence always gets me!
Come on: ADIDAS nail art? Ain’t it cool?
The King of Pop! Keith Haring inspired nail art. Something insane.
Whenever in doubt? Avoid nail biting neurosis: Essie Wicked will always calm the soul till your next polish change. Enjoy!

Heidi Montag: Seeing Heidi in L.A. a couple of weeks ago reminded me that speaks her mind, she’s straightforward and totally non-judgemental. And she looked incredible. She said she’s keeping busy by working on her next phase and staying in shape, while Spencer is wrapping up final year of his political science degree at USC. She also said she’s throwing him a party at Crazy Horse III Gentlemen’s Club in Las Vegas this month!
Clay Aiken: I first met him in 2009 when I did the People cover story of him coming out, and he was great. But with the release this week of a pubilcity shot of him in Ogunquit Playhouse’s upcoming production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” I’m reminded why he’s amazing
Kylie Minogue: Because she’s talented, kind, gorgeous and very strong.
I’m all about natural, handmade items. This bamboo stool from my Target collection is one of my favorites. Perfect for a quick fall refresh.
Throws, like this tweed one from One King’s Lane, are wonderful to have around. Drape over a sofa, toss on the bed or throw into a basket for easy reach.
You can never have too many candles, especially as the weather starts to get colder and you want things to feel cozy.

I don’t have green thumbs at all but I like bringing some greenery inside…especially as we start to spend time indoors again.
Vases are a staple in my house year round. Love the architectural feel of the Pinzell vase from my collection.
Tis the season for Tiaras, hot restaurants, amazing home decor ideas, and of course who are the Hamptons hotties and the SUPERMODEL of the Hamptons which I created for Hamptons Magazine. Where do they hang out, and what do they like to wear in the Hamptons. You’ll see soon enough. My biggest question is to wear or not to wear the overall. I ve seen a lot of cute looks with the overall, and a lot of messy sloppy looks. So, I decided to highlight my top fav celebs in what else, but the overall. Not so fast,…You may not see me sporting the denim delight which caught my eye in a photo taken in the early 19th century’s of 1920s designer god Paul Poiret in my book AMERICAN STYLE by ASSOULINE. If Mr. Poiret can wear them, so can I, I guess. Check out my friends super chic bar/ restaurant OMAR’S, and my great friend who I met through Jill Zarin, Sam Allen. He’s young, talented, and super cute. My favorite are the Hermes Birkin bag pillow covers. And of course, check out the amazing lamps that even Michelle Obama has coveted. And for the coolest Tiaras that Mr Wein clued me into check out Eugeina Kim. Get started and let me know what you like and don’t like. I WANNA KNOW WHAT YOU LIKE.
Are you ready for overalls? Everyone from major celebs to painters are sporing the uber trendy denim. Loose white tank and beads is my favorite look. Which one is yours?
Omar’s is a private dinning club found in the Greenwich Village, tucked away in a historic brownstone on West 9 street, part of manhattan known as Gold Coast, a culturally rich neighborhood in the heart of downtown Manhattan.
Omar’s club drawn its members from various industries. Art, Publishing, Film, Finance, Music, Advertising, etc.
Unlike other notable restaurants in Manhattan, guests are encouraged to stay as long as they please, experience excellent service, superb food and refined company in a charming and sophisticated atmosphere with richly diverse and cultural membership, harboring a casual, elegant taste, a homey spirit and a feeling of excellence.
Not everyone can be a SUPERMODEL. Just to inspire you I compiled a few of my favorite Hamptonites who happen to be SUPERMODELs and clued you into to who they are and what they love about the Hamptons. Heres the article from HAMPTONS Magazine Memorial Day issue. Let me know your thoughts.
1. Christopher Spitzmiller’s HB Patricia Lamps. Shown in Gold Luster with Black Lacquered Bases.
As a fun fan of Eugenia Kim, I’m obsessed by the Tiara Headband. First brought to me by my stylist, Gregory Wein, the headband is sexy, sparkly, and a fun accessory for Fall 2013. Get it now!
Can bicycles be sexy? According to Brazilian born Lorenzo Martone, who spends his days and nights with the sexiest New Yorkers, the answer is “yes,” especially the Martone Bike.
In order to look like a European, you have to shop like a European. And that means pick key items that will be smoking hot from September all the way until next March. My advice is to get a uniform or a vision of an icon in your head, and stick with it every day to have fun with fashion, and not be afraid.
This Fall 2013, a few of my favorite things are biker and moll inspired. As I was walking up Madison Avenue I started to dream, If I could have a few key items this season what would they be. Heres my list: cape coat, black dress, thigh high boots, chic bracelets, statement ring, silk jogging pants, and an awesome BALLY tote, and a fun biker hat.
I’m handbag obsessed and I really love the Hermes reversible tote for its understated, yet it has two side so you can change it up from day to night.
I also love the BALLY “DANA” which is made of metal lead colored python and chocolate calf. This looks like you are carrying a piece of art. I wore mine with balck and white and a sky high heel with green for a more sophisticated look, I couldn’t wait to wear it!
Im also obsessed with mommy to be Margherita Missoni’s line of bags she created for Missoni. I love the Missoni fabric handbag for its pairs great with fall’s rich black, and I’m also a Missoni soldier and have been in love with the brand and the color schemes.
Another accessory I love for Fall is the Chloe enamel bracelet. Its the sweet and charming moment while you are walking to work in your cape coat.
Speaking of amazing jewelry, Katy Rodriguez has and incredible line of jewelry with bold stones to pair with the satin jogger trouser by Vince, or even the split neck sheer trim dress I’m dying over ( plus their cashmere sweaters are a great price and they come in yummy white, baby grey, and black.)
And for those shoe obsessed lovers, Im literally dying over the two toned Jimmy Choo yellow and black sky high pumps. They are hot sexy and make a statement since well all be wearing all black this fall.
And if you are an H&M enthusiast like I am, get your closet ready for thigh high boots and a leather cap for this season is hot, sexy, and cool. Pair your oversized angora sweaters with leather leggings and thigh high boots, and a biker hat ( try harley davidson if you want to be authentic), and you can go anywhere anytime. Nice girls are sweet, but bad girls go everywhere at H&M.
Philip Lim thigh high boots are making me creasy for this season. They modernize the black dress and make leather leggings uber HOT. I also love the teeshirt over the oversized shirt.
And for skirt lengths, go knee length. Personally, the jean skirt can be just as hot as any knee length. Add a tight motorcycle jacket, and you are ready for anything.

1. My relaunch of my new book on the Hamptons IN THE SPIRIT OF THE HAMPTONS by Assouline.com
2. Anything Denim and Supply like my shorts
3. Patterned cotton shirt from C WONDER: great fit
4. Red nail polish to keep it festive and fun, even with a tan (ESSIE)
5. Gold watch. Rolex is my favorite watch of all time, but I do like Michael Kors watches, too, and SWATCH.
6. Gold hoop earrings from Jennifer Miller
7. Tom Ford bronzer
8. Blueberry fragrance from Jo Malone
9. Bulgari baby bracelet
10. Pinky Ring from Helen Ficalora
As summer heats up, Id like to explore some things that are an integral part of my DNA. For my summer vacation, I took my 15 year old daughter on a trip to Haiti again to see all the amazing wells that have been put in, even one at an orphanage by Kim Kardashian, and celebrity colorist Chaz Dean of Wen products. We also went to Jacamel where a new school is going to be put so the children in a rural part of Haiti will have incredible education due to Dev Pro, Operation Blessing , and Generosity Water. I even learned how to Cat Daddy with Francia Almendarez from ABC’s Secret Life of an American Teenager, and acclaimed singer Jojo. I also compiled a HOT list of who’s HOT in the Hamptons: you’ll see who they are and why they are HOT. Marley Ficalora brings us the Hamptons skater culture, Sasha Charnin Morrison fashion director of US Weekly clues us into what HOT in fashion right now. And if you love good music and need a little downtime in this heat wave, check out Donna D’ Cruz and her summer hot list.
See you in AmNy and always let me know what you love and don’t love, or what you area dying to hear from those whom I admire so much. Ask away.
After the Earthquake, Haiti suffered, but the people of Haiti lived with hope. Its my third time to Haiti and every time I come back, my biggest reflection is not what Generosity Water or Operation Blessing are going to do for this amazing culture, but how this culture survives while smiling. They want for nothing and need everything. Its an impressive culture. The Bassin at Jacamel has the most gorgeous water, Rebo coffee and Vanilla extract is delicious and strong in flavor. the jewelry is incredible, and the wood work and furniture is unbelievable. WIth all that talent, now I see why they smile. They have hope despite adversity. Thank you to all the donors who have supported me in my clealn water initiative, and thank you Generosity Water and to Operation Blessing with your amazing fish farm. You are bringing a school to Jacamel with Dev Pro, so now they have water, educated, and are learning to fish to feed their country. Im humbled and grateful for the beauty I have been exposed to.
There’s nothing like Fall to make me spend money. The splitting up on credit cards business will be trending most weeks while I gobble up all of these outstanding, fun and timeless pieces. Clicks or bricks? I will buying both from store to store as well as online-I LOVE getting packages! And do not get me started on net-a-porter.com SAME DAY SERVICE!
1. Free People
Military Ruffle Twill Jacket-I don’t know if I worked in the armed services in another life but I have some whacko fascination with olive military jackets. It’s not normal. 27 anoraks, jackets, parkas and hoodies all in this olive green?
I can justify every single one though. And this one makes me mental. The ruffle which is reminiscent of a little edition jacket Gap and Valentino collaborated on a few seasons ago. I love the lacing-reminds me of a bordello for some reason.
And the extra plus? There’s 3 % Lycra that moulds itself to you as opposed to something that’s boxy and straight cut.

2. Saint Laurent
There is something that makes me say “YES!” jubilantly as the “Y” in YSL has returned, because…come on. Honestly, it’s a logo you can live with.

3. Lanvin Nameplates
I think that girls who wear nameplates now are so 1998 and pedestrian. But then I saw these oversized, ridiculous Lanvin Love, Happy and Help necklaces and I fell back in love with this street staple. Also-the label whore self that I am said, “Self…if Alber Elbaz is doing it, then it’s ok to love it again.”
I love this instagrammer and her style of layering, designing and creating pure genius. Two sisters actually. There’s a DYI tutorial but I just want to look at each one and how she layers and then buy one.
Me And Lex
I don’t know if I can continue to live if this shoe doesn’t become mine. I really need something that will allow me to walk. I think the ye ol’ Ferragamo-ness of this shoe combined with the rubber sole and the pitch/height all of this makes me 50 shades of crazy.

So lets go for it, but since its me, I want you to look like the pretty punker with a sexy edge, theres nothing wrong with a hot, pretty, cool girl. Say Hi to my version of the bad girl.
2. Add a little color to your hair. The best and easiest way is to add Kool Aid to those locks for ombre color thats killer sexy.
3. Kill em with eye color. Add fun colors like lime green or a cobalt blue liner to knock that boy off the bar stool.
4. Handbags that hurt. Forget the high heel in the purse trick, your bag is a hot weapon so beware.
5. Headbands are hot. Channel Londoner, Sienna Miller with a fun head band that will keep the locks as a place to look.
6. Punk out that simple white dress with a cool Biker Jacket
7. Meet for friends after work with a statement necklace on that simple T-Shirt that’s ticked into your pencil skirt. Show them you can be drop dead gorgeous and cool.
The Costume Institute has gone all out thanks to new halls donated by the incredible Tisch family. And what better way to celebrate than with the anti fashion fashion, PUNK.
I even in the late 80s had a punk moment for Halloween where I wore a plastic bag and dark eye makeup and travelled my neighborhood carrying a pillow case filled with candy. But PUNK isn’t a joke or a Halloween costume, its the breakout from stereotypes and a reflection of the ultimate angst. It can be hot and sexy and dark or honestly a little scary with multiple piercings and anger infliction/ mutilation/ defamation.
For me the hottest looks this season that didn’t go “costume” where JLo, Beyonce, Sienna Miller, Miley Cyrus, and Gisele Bundchen.
The Met is my sanctuary and filled with inspiration and history. Blog about what you love and hate, and make opinions like crazy
On your way out, check out the exhibit and walk through the sculpture garden.
Thank you Andrew Bolton and Harold Koda for your incredible vision and anthropological look at fashion.
